EscapeDozer.jpg

Dozer was one of Security Forces, who caught and imprisoned Cy-Kill and his Renegade group on GoBotron. The prisoners were able to escape to Earth though, having learned how to change their forms. Leader-1 discovered this reviewing security tapes, and then summoned Dozer along with Turbo, Hans-Cuff, Dumper and Pumper to the Command Center in order to give chase. On the journey they also took on vehicle modes, with Dozer becoming a bulldozer. They detected the Renegades after Pete and Nancy accidentally hacked the Renegades. The Security Forces were able to force the Renegades into a retreat, and Dozer watched as Leader-1 honoured their new human chums with medals and the status of honorary citizens of GoBotron.Escape to Planet Earth

Dozer was seated on the Guardian Council when Path Finder delivered the bittersweet news that the Renegade Fortress had fallen, but Cy-Kill's army of Zods were advancing on GoBotron from Earth. The Final Conflict

He was later a visitor to a secret UNECOM base in Utah, where he was the unfortunate occupant of a Power Suit undergoing tests by Professor Von Joy. Dozer survived and was later part of a trap laid at the base for the Renegades by Leader-1 on Earth, ambushing them at a UNECOM base; along with Dumper, Scratch and Road Ranger he converted to robot mode and opened fire, with Cy-Kill, Crasher, Cop-Tur, Pincher, Snoop and Geeper-Creeper trapped as Leader-1, Turbo and Blaster also fired on them from the other side. However, success was prevented when the Professor tried to help, only to inadvertently freeze the Guardian forces when his new experimental weapon, allowing the Renegades to escape. It's the Thought that Counts Dozer was later serving on the Command Center with Leader-1, Turbo and Scooter when it crashed with the Renegades' Thruster on an unknown planet inhabited by mechanical spiders. As the planet's magnetic field prevented either group of GoBots to leave the factions were forced to work together, with Dozer's fighting skills soon put to the test by the vicious native creatures. Together with Pincher, Cop-Tur and Matt Hunter he destroyed a cliff, releasing a lake to wash the spiders away. The Renegades naturally double-crossed the Guardians as soon as their ship could leave but Dozer was able to capture Pincher. The Monster GoBot soon spilt the beans about sabotage carried out by Cy-Kill. Thankfully this had been anticipated by Turbo and the Guardians escaped unharmed. Forced Alliance. Dozer briefly returned to serve on the Guardian Council with Zeemon, Scratch, Path Finder, Staks, Rest-Q and Road Ranger but the group were taken hostage by Leader-1 and Turbo, who were under the control of Buddy's spectrometer. The group were saved from delivery to the Renegades by the timely intervention of Scooter, Nick and Buddy. Whiz Kid He returned to Earth to provide security for the mooted peace talks between the Guardians and the Renegades; however, the talks were a sham and exposed as such by Turbo. Pacific Overtures

He was undertaking another stint as part of the Command Center team on Earth when Stretch attempted to kidnap Matt, A.J. and Nick from a remote UNECOM base as part of Zero's strategy to distract the Guardians and Renegades while he made an attack on GoBotron. While the Guardians were able to prevent the humans from being taken Turbo was instead captured. He stayed onboard the ship initially when Leader-1 and Cy-Kill went down to Dengon Beta to have the captured Turbo and Crasher handed over. Scooter and A.J. followed Leader-1 down against orders, which was fortunate as Cy-Kill had taken Tank along. Dozer headed down with Matt and Nick to help, with the Guardian moving to block his fallen commander from Renegade fire. However, Cy-Kill then decided to deal with Zero instead of fighting the Guardians. Reunited with Turbo, they attacked Zero's hideout, only for Dozer to get blasted by the base's automated defences. He recovered in time to escape the base before it self-destructed.The Third Column He was later present at the Guardian Academy when the Renegades attempted to kidnap Zeemon, helping flush Cy-Kill, Crasher and Cop-Tur towards the Thruster simulator instead of their real craft. Guardian Academy Dozer was also part of the group of Guardians in the GoBotron Fortress on GoBotron while Solitaire asked for their help in freeing Cordax from Magmar's fiendish plans. The Robo Machines comic[edit | edit source]

RoboMachinesDozer.jpg

A senior member of the Security Forces, Dozer was one of the volunteers who left Robotron with Ex-El onboard the Command Centre, pursuing the Renegade Stron-Domez to Earth. On the journey he was converted to a Robo Machine body that allowed him to convert to an Earth bulldozer, though Dozer himself would complain about how slow this made him. Nevertheless along with Hans-Cuff he aided Leader One in confronting Cy-Kill, Tank and Fitor outside Cholkham. When the Renegades attacked a nearby school he helped evacuate buildings and was the first of the Security Forces to meet Charlie Bampton. He later participating in the attack on the Datafile Electronics factory that captured Tank, Fitor, Loco and Cop-Tur and freed the captive human workforce. The Robo Machines, Story 1

Later he was among the Security Force robots that set out to face Casmodon in London, scoffing at Leader One's offer to release them from their Guardian vows rather than face the Devil Invader. With the rest of the Guardians he was shocked when their combined firepower failed to damage the giant Renegade. As a running battle developed Dozer tried to make a stand on the roof of a block of flats but was shot in the chest by Casmodon's eye-beams. He was heavily damaged and tried to persuade Turbo to leave him behind but the junior officer didn't listen and carried him back to the Command Centre before the ship evacuated back to Robotron. Robo Machine featuring Challenge of the GoBots annuals[edit | edit source]

Dozer was present on Earth onboard the Command Centre when Cy-Kill tried to collect Magma Worms from South America to use against the Guardians. Along with Dumper, he excavated the volcano containing the worms, allowing Leader-1 to fire his power beam into the volcano, triggering an eruption and scuppering the Renegades' plans to harvest the dangerous creatures. The Rumbling Jungle He was out on patrol when Doctor Braxis and the Renegades attempted and ultimately failed to kidnap Anya Turgenova. The Aliens Steal a Scientist Cop-Tur attacked Dumper and Dozer, freezing them in vehicle modes with Braxis' freeze beam as part of a convoluted plan to control Earth's weather. Scooter was able to find the reversal key and the Guardians stormed the Renegades' quarry base, with Dumper and Dozer burying Crasher under boulders when she tried to flee to Thruster. Battle of the Beams Again paired with Dumper, Dozer was dispatched to Peking, where Geeper-Creeper was trying to release one of the Exploding Toads of Primus. Dumper wrestled with the Renegade while Dozer grabbed the toad and flew to safety. The Exploding Toads of Primus

Machine Men mini-comics[edit | edit source]

Dozer was one of the Friendly Machine Men native to Earth when it was targeted by the Enemy Machine Men of Robotron, led by Cy-Kill. Despite Leader-1 devising robot modes for the Machine Men the first attack was a rout. Dozer was among those who regrouped at the Command Centre and prepared for a counter-offensive, where Dozer bulldozed Tank, though there were questions over whether he, Scooter, Turbo and Royal-T had what it would take to push back the Enemy Machine Men. With fair reason, as Dozer was soon pounced on by Zod. Space Wars

Dozer, Dive-Dive, and Mach-3 were on patrol near Galleon in the Command Center 14 when they ran into Cy-Kill. Joined by Dumper, Pumper, and Bullseye of Command Center 6, they confronted the arch-villain. Command Center 14 was destroyed, Mach-3 was injured, and Dozer and Dumper suffered further damage after Cy-Kill caused his Thruster to self-destruct, but the Renegade was eventually captured. The Long Game Dozer was one of the Guardian security guards with Hans-Cuff who found the Robo Rebels standing over the recently-blasted body of Zeemon in the Guardian Council chambers. Rebels Without A Circuit In an alternate reality, Dozer and Street Heat initiated a Guardian revolt against the Renegade controlled Gobotron at Zeemon's direction. Renegade Victory Part 2 UNECOM called in Dozer and Bullet by Astro-Beam during a Renegade attack, but Crasher and her goons had already damaged the military prototype on scene, and fled instead of engaging further. "Echoes and Fragments"[edit | edit source]

GoBots4Dozer.jpg

Centuries after the Go-Bot uprising Dozer was one of Leader-1's subjects onboard the Command Center. He was in the ship's cafeteria with Small Foot and newcomer Spay-C, noting to the latter how rare it was for Leader-1 to trust anyone as they prepared to begin the search for the Lazer Lance. Issue 3 Using a beam of light projected from his visor, Dozer helped rescue survivors after the defeat of Zod but was gunned down by Cy-Kill moments later when the Renegade took control of the Command Center.Issue 4

GoBots version

GoBots[edit | edit source]

GoBots[edit | edit source]

  • Dozer (GoBot, 1983)
    • Friendly Robot Bulldozer
    • ID number: 11
    • Accessories: Roof, funnel/gun
Dozer was released by Tonka in the first series of GoBots, and converts from robot to Komatsu D155A bulldozer in 4 steps. The toy was a repackaging of Bulldozer Robo from Machine Robo, with no significant changes aside from the omission of the extra robot mode details included on an additional sticker sheet with the Japanese release, which does free him from having the easily damaged foot stickers. Dozer was one of the few small GoBots to include a weapon accessory, though as it was very small it is easy to lose. The roof can be kept in place during transformation; the part was likely only made removable to avoid it snapping or bending, as it does not affect the robot's balance. Sadly, the noble aim of avoiding the roof snapping means it is also a part frequently missing from loose examples.
  • Dozer was offered in the first-ever assortment of GoBots figures manufactured in 1983 (#7200). He was discontinued before the start of the second series.
  • Bilingual Canadian releases retained the same name.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The original bio for Dozer, published in Tonka's 1984 catalogue, riffed on the pun of his name in a different direction, noting he was fond of naps - i.e. having a doze.
  • Dozer's Cybertronian-style body in the "Cataclysm universe" is modeled on Combiner Wars Bonecrusher with the head design of Combiner Wars Scrapper.
