After 20 years as captain of the freighter Global Trader, Captain Clegg is taking the ship to the breakers to be scrapped. However, Cop-Tur uses Herr Fiend's Hypnosonic Oscillator Module to send the crew to sleep, planning to use the ship as a base to finish work on his new weapon, Zod. Braxis prepares to put the unconscious sailors in a lifeboat but Cy-Kill prefers to sling them over the side, chained to the ship's anchor.

Thankfully Dive-Dive has picked up the Renegades' signals and was able to save the crew from a watery grave. However, the Guardians are stretched thin - Turbo has been injured by Vamp; Road Ranger, Night Ranger and Flip Top have been damaged after Scorp ambushed them while Heat Seeker needs repairs after a brave but rash attack on Pincher. However, Scooter has devised a plan - getting a repaired Heat Seeker to lead the Enemy Invaders into an old quarry, at which point Dumper and Dozer would bury them under 18,000 tonnes of concrete - paying for the materiel by having Dive-Dive salvage a wrecked pirate ship off the coast of Peru.

Dive-Dive reports the capture of the Global Trader to the Command Centre but Leader-1 felt the Guardians had no chance against both the Renegades and the Enemy Invaders in their current state, instead going with Scooter's plan in order to better the odds. However, his looting of maritime graves has only yielded enough plunder to buy 7000 tonnes of concrete, which he estimates will only contain the Enemy Invaders for 24 hours. Leader-1 decides that will be enough to save the Global Trader, and gives the go-ahead. The plan worked and the Guardians set off for the Global Trader. However, just as they arrived the Renegades were leaving it behind, after loading something huge onto Thruster, with Cy-Kill ranting about the power of Zod as they left. Thus making the whole business of buying concrete and burying the Enemy Invaders completely pointless.

That taken care of, Leader-1 and Dive-Dive returned the sleeping sailors to the Global Trader. Moments after they leave, Clegg and his first officer awake, with the Captain believing himself to have had the strangest dream...

Notes[edit | edit source]

Continuity notes[edit | edit source]

  • Turbo, Scorp, Flip Top, Night Ranger, Road Ranger, and Zod are all mentioned but not 'seen'.
  • That the Guardians are secretive about returning the crew of the Global Trader, suggesting they aren't public knowledge in this continuity.

Continuity and plotting errors[edit | edit source]

  • While the number of crew that are onboard the Global Trader is never specified it seems unlikely that Braxis would be physically unable to lift even one unconscious sailor into a lifeboat in the time implied.
