Like all of the Riser Suits, the Battle Riser was designed by Science. Riser! Power Up! When Pro Truck Racer led the Algo Army out to investigate the approaching spaceship Good Luck the Battle Riser was taken as well, in the back of Tough Trailer. Burning Electronic Planet The mission saw the Silver Wolves rescue the humans Akira Amachi, Luke Stewart and Mia White, though they became separated from a fourth survivor, Patricia Longfellow. Luke and Akira eyed the Battle Riser and Jet Riser as something they could use to help in the battle for the ship, but were roundly mocked for by the Wheelmen and denied permission for by Drill Crusher. However, that night the pair stole the Riser Suits from Crystal City, with Akira using the Jet Riser to carry Luke in the Battle Riser. Jet Riser! Scramble! After finding the Good Hope to be heavily guarded by Gurendos they had to be saved by Mach Blaster and members of White Thunder, who nevertheless agreed to help them rescue Patricia and another survivor, Zen Ogawa. Heavy Wind, Mach Blaster!

Akira became determined to join the Battle Hackers but they were again worried about his ability. Akira once again took control of the Jet Riser and was able to pay a role in alerting the team to Devil Satan 6's attempts to destroy the crucial bridge into Crystal City, greatly impressing R. JeTan and the other Battle Hackers, who allowed him to join them. Jet Riser - Full Fire! This caused some discord with his fellow Good Luck survivors, who wanted to concentrate on returning to Earth. Patricia and Mia returned to the ship to try and find out more information but it was infested with Gurendos and damaged beyond repair. Akira and the Battle Hackers rescued the pair and destroyed the ship to prevent the Gurendos using it against them. Return to the Good Luck In the Jet Riser, he was sent out on patrol along with Garzack, F-One Jack and Hot Rod Joe, where his impetuous attempt to get them out of a Gurendos ambush nearly saw himself and Garzack destroyed, and did cause the latter to lose his Garfire-SP. The Gurendos used the captured weapon for an assault on Crystal City but Akira redeemed himself by acting as bait so the Battle Hackers could recapture the gun - even if his scheme saw the hair scorched from the centre of his head. Akira and the Jet Riser were later on patrol with the Winner Robo when Gakurandar prepared to bombard Crystal City with a super-gun; he and Jetter Robo investigated but were damaged by an aerial mine and stuck partway down a huge chasm. Jetter Robo was able to repair himself with parts of the Jet Riser and get a warning out. Dangerous Grand Whale Using the Jet Riser, Akira later helped Drill Crusher and Masa investigate and thwart Yasand's mind-control operation. Drill Crusher's Wrath Akira and Luke found their Riser Suits outmatched by the Gurendos' new Twin Deppo Daman soldiers so Mach Blaster took them for training with the suits' eccentric creator, Science. After easily defeating Akira in single combat, Science put the two humans through a punishing physical and mental regime to improve their performance and use of the suits. As a result the pair were able to defeat Yasand and Rikkimines in combat, though the Battle Hackers were amused when Mach Blaster told them of Akira's defeat and other indignities at the hands of Science. Riser! Power Up! Along with the rest of the Battle Hackers he was ultimately unable to prevent Yasand stealing a supply of electromagnetic missiles from the Algo Army The Stolen Secret Weapon Along with Patricia, Akira infiltrated a Gurendos base in the Jet Riser to try and find out more about where they had the stolen weaponry. They unwittingly stumbled upon the launch site and Akira made a brave solo attack on first the launcher and then one of the missiles itself in the Jet Riser; however, he was ultimately unable to prevent it exploding over Crystal City, knocking out huge numbers of Machine Robo. Target: Grand Whale When more missiles launched he was more successful, being able to disable their propulsion with the Jet Riser's weaponry. The Flower of Hope Blooming on the Battlefield Again using the Jet Riser, Akira then worked with Mach Blaster when the Battle Hackers infiltrated and destroyed a huge mobile Gurendos base; however, the latter was captured after sacrificing himself to buy the rest of the team time to escape, much to Akira's distress. Captive Mach Blaster He was part of the assault on Blood Country to free the captive Battle Hacker but during the attempt Akira, Luke and Mia discovered a human spaceship inside the Gurendos base. There they found out the shocking truth about B-1 - that it was a human-built weapons testing site that had ran amok. Akira shut down the computer Dylan that worked with the Gurendos but Patricia and Zen were beamed onto the ship by RIM, and the craft was launched back to Earth before they could inform the Battle Hackers of their discovery. A distressed Akira vowed to return and free the Machine Robo as they left the planet. Goodbye - Battle Forever

Machine Robo: Battle Hackers[edit | edit source]

JetRiserToy.jpg
  • Jet Riser (Battle Hackers, 1987)
    • ID number: BH-07
    • Accessories: pellets
Jet Riser was released in Bandai's Machine Robo: Battle Hackers toyline in 1987. The toy does not convert, instead forming a suit of battle armour for the included figure of Akira Amachi. It reuses some of the same parts as the Power Riser and Battle Riser, notably the upper shoulders and the upper legs, and required partial assembly. The larger gun is a working weapon that fires BB-style pellets. Akira Amachi is a retool of the Luke Stewart figure included with the Battle Riser toy, the only difference being the head.
Like the other Riser Suits, Jet Riser was not released outside of Japan.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • While the Battle Riser was logically developed for the Red Knights team only Akira is ever seen piloting it in the series, and they have to make do with Power Risers.
  • Early catalogue pictures of the Battle Riser toy featured Wrestler Robo as the pilot figure; whether he was planned at some stage to be released as part of the set or if the Akira Amachi figure was simply not finished when the pictures were taken is unknown.
