Synopsis[edit | edit source]

BattleHackersE0216.jpg

The battle between the Algo Army and the Gurendos continues to rage around the Good Luck. Inside the ship Pro Truck Racer, Drill Crusher and F-One Jack continue to protect the humans Luke Stewart, Akira Amachi and Mia White. From an entrenched position outside Buggy Wolf tries to break through but is ambushed by the Gurendos soldier Sorikondar, who easily contains the Machine Robo until their battle is interrupted by Pro Truck Racer. Buggy Wolf is able to escape, leaving Sorikondar swearing vengeance on Pro Truck Racer, whose team links back up with the other Algo Army forces. Akira and Luke see the Jet Riser and Power Riser suits onboard Tough Trailer. The humans are riled by teasing comments from the Wheelmen about their use in battle - including Hot Rod Joe juggling Akira to show him how puny he is, and Pro Truck Racer ultimately agrees, deciding the best course of action is to get the fragile astronauts to safety. The Gurendos then begin bombing the surrounding settlement from the air, causing huge damage.

The impetuous Akira offers to help by piloting the Jet Riser to take out the attackers; Drill Crusher stops him, believing the humans to be unsuitable for combat. With the bombing getting closer Pro Truck Racer rallies his troops, sending Drill Crusher underground and ordering everyone else to evacuate in Tough Trailer. While they are able to get away from the aerial attacks their escape route takes them towards an ambush laid by Sorikondar. However, Pro Truck Racer has anticipated this and Drill Crusher emerges behind a group of the Gurendos troopers and using explosives to wipe most of them out. Pro Truck Racer and Tough Trailer thus carry on without even breaking pace and soon reach the Algo Republic headquarters with the humans. While the Wheelmen are resting Akira - still smarting from getting a slap from Drill Crusher - sneaks out with Luke to one of the equipment bays, where they find the Riser Suits. The pair are then found by Mia, who goads the impulsive Akira into trying to pilot the Jet Riser as they try to work out how they will find Patricia. He finds it incredibly user-friendly, encouraging Luke to try the Battle Riser. Akira blows a hole in the hangar wall and tears off into the sky in the Jet Riser while Luke follows on the ground in the Power Riser - leaving a furious Mia still in the hangar to be found by an even more furious Drill Crusher. Akira uses the Jet Riser to carry the Power Riser and they both head off back in the direction of the Good Luck.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • This is the first appearance of Buggy Wolf and Drag Sam - while both were released as part of the Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline, they were too late to appear in that show.
  • Battle Hackers is more intentionally funny than its' predecessor - little touches in this episode, on top of basically anything with Akira, include a Gurendos trooper getting a speech bubble with a question mark in it when he notices Drill Crusher's underground progress and Tough Trailer's cab interior having a pin-up of a girl in it.
  • For the first non-Rod Drill time Machine Robo are shown sleeping, in recharge slab-type bunks.
  • Tough Trailer isn't seen in robot mode, is driven by Kempō Robo and does not react in any way, shape or form when Luke and Akira open his trailer and mess with the Power Riser suits. Perhaps this is the return of the seemingly non-sentient Tough Trailer lookalike trucks from "Underneath a Burning Sky"?
