Renegade Rhetoric[edit | edit source]

While stranded in the multiversal hub city of Axiom Nexus, Cy-Kill worked to rebuild his power base with new Renegades. Weird Wing was part of a group of Predacons camped out in the Heap that confronted Cy-Kill during his exploits. After Cy-Kill defeated their leader Fright Face in single combat, the Predacons became loyal members of his Renegade force. Cy-Kill even used his old Puzzler technology to give the Predacons a combiner form as Monsterous. Weird Wing and the others traveled with Cy-Kill back to his home reality when he abandoned Axiom Nexus. Renegade Rhetoric Cy-Kill and his new recruits emerged in the midst of an epic battle between the Guardian fleet and Rogue Star. As Monsterous, Weird Wing and his team gleefully tore through the surprised Courageous before turning on the Command Centers. Unfortunately, Leader-1 tricked Cy-Kill into firing a killing shot at him, which he dodged so that it hit Monsterous instead. This respite allowed the Guardians to retreat, but the Renegades had clearly won the day. Opportunity Knocks Part 2

Cy-Kill dispatched Weird Wing and the creature warriors to Philadelphia as Monsterous to draw Courageous out for another battle, but Monsterous was overwhelmed by a squad of Guardian Boomers. Six Heads are Better than One Cy-Kill brought Monsterous to an ambush to try and seize a matter transmutation ring, but the surprise appearance of Courageous made it a fair fight, and so the Renegades retreated again. One Born Every Minute When the Guardians and UNECOM came to Quartex to sign a tri-planet alliance treaty with Boulder's Rock Lords, Cy-Kill and Magmar decided to intervene. Monsterous and Puzzler were pitted against Courageous and the Fossil Lord's Fossilsaurus until Cy-Kill tipped his hand and revealed the Renegade Power Suit Warrior, Nemesis. Combiner Wars Part 1 The forces of good rallied, however, and prepared a counter-strike. Monsterous was diverted into battle with the Action Shock Rocks, leaving Courageous and Fossilsaurus evenly pitted against Nemesis and Puzzler in the rematch. Combiner Wars Part 2 In the future of 2085, Weird Wing was a Renegade working with Cy-Kill's long-term scheme to fool the Guardians into peace. He tried to destroy the past-Turbo when he stumbled upon their planning. All Tomorrow's Utopias

GoBots[edit | edit source]

Monsterous[edit | edit source]

  • Weird Wing (GoBots, 1986)
    • Giant Monsterous Body
    • Accessories: none
Weird Wing was released by Tonka in the third series of GoBots, and converts from robot to flying monster jet thing in 4 steps. The toy shares a mould with Barabat from the Devil Satan 6 set in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline, with a different dark pink primary colour scheme; it is unclear which was the original release. Weird Wing combines with his team-mates Fright Face, South Claw, Heart Attack, Fangs and Gore Jaw to form Monsterous; Weird Wing nominally forms the left arm but can be used for the right if so desired. Individually, he has articulation at the shoulders, hips and knees. However, Weird Wing's arms are permanently stuck bent at the elbow with his claws facing upwards and can only move parallel to the body. Like the rest of the Monsterous team, the rear of his card featured a character biography, while the instructions were printed on a separate leaflet.
  • Weird Wing was made available during the third series as part of the Monsterous assortment (#7301) and remained available for the rest of the line's life on toy shelves.

A giftset containing unchanged versions of Weird Wing, Fright Face, South Claw, Heart Attack, Fangs and Gore Jaw was also released by Tonka.

Puzzler Fiends[edit | edit source]

  • South Claws (Puzzler Fiends, 1986)
    • Monster Arm
    • ID number: 4
    • Accessories: none
In Europe, South Claws was available individually as one of the carded Puzzler Fiends. The toy was unchanged from the American release, but referred to the combined mode as the Monster Fiend. The name change appears to be a last-minute attempt to make the pun in South Claw's name work.
  • Puzzler Fiends Set (1986)
While Monsterous was sold in Europe individually a giftset was also issued containing all six Puzzler Fiends. The figures were identical to their respective GoBots releases, but the combined mode was referred to as the Monster Fiend. The names of Weird Wing and South Claw were switched for the European release.
