Red Wings meet a kid even more annoying than Jun Mizushima.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Red Wings are on night duty at Rescue Headquarters and studying survival techniques - apart from Taiyoh, who is asleep. An alarm sounds - an aircraft has disappeared in South America and Red Wings set off in the Wing Liner to the Amazon jungle. They soon discover the plane and prepare evacuation for the crew and passengers, all 57 of whom have survived the accident - though one needs urgent medical treatment, and is flown to hospital by Jet Robo. Those with minor injuries are evacuated in the Aider Robo. However, a young boy named Ricky who was travelling alone to meet with his mother is panicked at being left to wait for other transport to arrive. He kicks Ace in the groin and runs off after the Aider Robo - only to quickly become lost. Ace, Taiyoh and Bone soon catch up with him - only to find the their K-BOY signal aren't rorking from reaching the others. Ace is furious at Ricky for getting them all lost in the jungle. With night closing in Lin and Kai send the final rescue helicopter back before it becomes too dark to work safely. In the interior, Ace decides it would be too dangerous to continue trying to find a way out at night and they set up camp. Ace's survival skills allow them to make a fire and filter some drinking water (albeit using one of Taiyoh's near-toxic socks), but Ricky greedily scoffs down the small amount of candy Taiyoh has on him which was their only food. After Ricky goes to sleep Taiyoh defends him, pointing out that he's been through a traumatic series of events, and Ace confides his main reason for being angry with the boy is that he doesn't seem to trust him. The following morning Lin and Kai prepare to search for their team-mates, though Kai is briefly distracted by a rare butterfly. However, they are all unaware that Colonel Hazard is nearby with a signal jammer, planning to take care of the Robo Masters while they are separated from their Machine Robo.

Having dropped the injured man off at hospital Jet learns of the loss of contact with Taiyoh and Ace and heads back. Plans to send Machine Commander to help the search are put on hold when a cave-in in Central Europe requires the attention of Yellow Gears and the Drill Team, while a situation at the Banana Bank requires Blue Sirens and the Police Team. Miyajima insists they attend, telling them to believe in the Red Wings. Taiyoh and Ace attempt to fish for food; not liking the hungry look Ace gives him Bone plunges in, attracting a swarm of piranhas, allowing them to catch and cook some of the fish. However, Ricky refuses to eat anything not cooked by his mother and throws a tantrum. Back at the Wing Liner, Kai spots three columns of smoke. They activate Wing Liner Robo and move in for a closer look just as Jet Robo and the Fire Team return to the area. However, the latter are attacked by BL Fire Robo. Spotting the flames, Ace realises they are downwind and will have to cross the river. Ricky again whines about it despite the fire getting closer, until Ace tries a little reverse psychology, though the little dweeb still needs help from Bone to make it safely. Back behind them BL Fire Robo unveils the new BL Aider Robo and is able to go into Hyper Mode. Back at the river a stray blast sends a log flying into Ace, pinning him underwater. Taiyoh swims in to save him and is able to get him loose just as Jet Robo spots them from the sky. Meanwhile Wing Liner Robo unwittingly steps on Hazard's signal jammer, allowing Wing Liner Robo to receive the signals of Ace and Taiyoh, using its' water cannon to bring the fire under control. Meanwhile Ace is able to make contact with Fire Robo and order him into Hyper Mode. Hyper Fire Robo then activates a ZONE and soon gains the upper hand, but is stunned when BL Fire Robo destroys the BL Aider Robo just to cover his escape. Outside, the fire is out thanks to Wing Liner Robo and Jet Robo, and Ricky is happy to be safe. Later he sends an embarrassed Ace fanmail, which Sasaki reads out to the class.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Continuity notes[edit | edit source]

Continuity and plotting errors[edit | edit source]

  • In "Combine! Machine Commander Robo" Machine Commander was needed to reach South America in a decent time, but here Wing Liner and Jet Robo make the trip, even though it seemingly takes them until the following morning.
  • It's perhaps harsh to pull up a kids' show but the chances of a plane crashing in the Amazon without fatalities is microscopic - though maybe gets a pass through some unseen future technology.
  • It's a bit much that no-one really notices Wing Liner Robo at any point when he's twice the height of the tree canopy.
