Matt, A.J. and Nick face the fallout of their run-in with the GoBots.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Captain Matt Hunter and his cadet friends A.J. Foster and Nick Burns recount their encounter with the GoBots at their AstroCorps court martial. With a push from Professor Braxis they dismiss the story and suspend the trio. Onboard the Command Center, Leader-1 and Scooter inspect the damaged Turbo, while on Thruster the Renegades head to a meeting with their secret human contact. At Matt's cabin the three suspended astronauts ponder their next move - they need to find proof of the GoBots to clear their names. Just then Leader-1 arrives and grabs the trio, taking them to the Command Center. He explains the Guardians' conflict with the Renegades and the humans agree to help, in return for aid in explaining things to the AstroCorps. Meanwhile Cy-Kill, Crasher and Cop-Tur meet with their human ally - none other than Braxis. They plan to work together to conquer Earth as a base for the Renegades' planned conquest of GoBotron. Meanwhile Scooter takes Nick to get parts for the repairs to Turbo; the Guardian picks up Renegade signals and overhears them working with Braxis, with sorium their next target. Crasher and Cop-Tur catch the eavesdroppers but Scooter is able to cover their escape with his holograms. Turbo is repaired, and the Guardians plan to stop the Renegades' scheme with the help of their new allies.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • This book is a partial adaptation of "Target Earth", though it omits any of the events on GoBotron.
  • Unlike in the cartoon itself, Matt's house is a serial killer-type shack in the middle of nowhere, and Leader-1 takes them away instead of making his pitch there.
  • Also the cops that spot Scooter flying off with Nick are dressed in relatively normal uniforms rather than the riot gear style uniforms seen in the show.
  • Yes, that Steve Ditko.

Errors[edit | edit source]

  • According to the text, the Command Center is "camouflaged as a crane", but the art shows it's just behind a bit of fencing.
  • Despite the text referring to AstroCorps the facility shown has 'NASA' above the guard post.
