Machine Robo Rescue cartoon[edit | edit source]

Voice actor: N/A

Following Daichi Hayami's graduation from Machine Robo Rescue he put the resources of Hayami Heavy Industries at the disposal of Professor Tōru Suidōbashi, and the pair worked on designing the next generation of Machine Robo. Air Leon was the first fruit of their efforts, but sadly they relied on Drill Robo to watch over the new creation. He promptly fell asleep and Air Leon briefly went on the run through Tokyo, scattering the Police Team. However, Air Leon was merely heading to Rescue Headquarters, where his arrival impressed the latest intake of cadets. Sortie! The Professor and Daichi soon caught up, and as they reminisced with instructors Ace, Alice and Shō their creation mingled with Fire Robo, Submarine Robo and the cadets. Machine Robo Mugenbine[edit | edit source]

Mugen Combination[edit | edit source]

  • Air Leon (2003)
    • ID number: 01
Air Leon was released by Bandai as part of Machine Robo Mugenbine on 27 December 2003 as part of the Mugen Combination series of figures. The set is built around the 'A' Mugenroid, and comes with parts that can be used to form either a jet Machine Mode or a mechanical lion Beast Mode - or, as part of the Mugenbine franchise's main selling point, combined with other sets in near-endless combinations of the owner's imagination. The set retailed at ¥1500.
  • Like the rest of Machine Robo Mugenbine, the set was not released outside of Asia.

Combination DX[edit | edit source]

VictoryLeonToy.jpg
Victory Leon was released by Bandai as part of Machine Robo Mugenbine series on 20th November 2004 as part of the Combination DX series of figures. The set is built around the 'V' Mugenroid, and comes with parts that can be used to form either an armoured Machine Mode (complete with garage) or an updated mechanical lion Beast Mode - or, as part of Victory Leon also has a larger robot mode.
  • Like the rest of Machine Robo Mugenbine, the set was not released outside of Asia.

Exclusives[edit | edit source]

  • Air Leon Black Ver. (2004)
    • ID number: X
Air Leon Black Ver. was released by Bandai as part of Machine Robo Mugenbine in April 2004, a recolouring of the original Mugen Combination set. In the grand tradition of Japanese robot toys the figure is a black repaint, though it's not as chromatically dull as many victims of the trend, having a healthy amount of red and gold retained in the scheme. The set was available exclusively from JUSCO stores.

Combination Campaign[edit | edit source]

  • Air Leon Silver Ver. (2005)
A silver-plated recolour of Air Leon was released by Bandai as part of the Mugenbine Combination Campaign ran on the Mugenbine website during June 2005. Only six were produced as Lucky Draw prizes.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Air Leon was dropped into the conclusion of Machine Robo Rescue to advertise the then-new Mugenbine figures released the week before broadcast. Beyond showing off his modes not a lot of explanation is given regarding how he would interact with the MRR Machine Robo or cadets. This origin is ignored by other Mugenbine tie-in fiction.
