Synopsis[edit | edit source]

MRRE53-091JayKai.jpg

Air Leon is regarded by Machine Robo Rescue instructors Ace, Alice and Shō - as well as impressed new cadets Jun and Ryo, as Fire Robo and Submarine Robo introduce themselves to the new arrival. Daichi, Professor Suidōbashi and Drill Robo arrive at Rescue Headquarters after Air Leon's premature release from Hayami Heavy Industries - where Daichi is now company president. Fire Robo notes that Air Leon's zeal reminds him of Taiyoh and Jet Robo leaping into action for the organisation's first rescue. As Daichi is there, Ace gets him to explain his experiences of training seeing as the cadets are introduced to the rappel wall, underwater rescue simulator and other drills. Ace and the others then explain about the ZONE's use as a practice simulator for the Machine Robo, the Rotating Base, the transports, Machine Commander, the Supporter Robo and the dorms - still looked after by Zenjiro and Satoko.

Jay meanwhile is on International Hyper Rescue's space station, still working with V Stealth Robo to defend Earth from meteorites. Kai is also working on the station, while Ken is now the doctor at Rescue Headquarters - and reveals Ace is still terrified of needles. Meanwhile, Susumu and Tsuyoshi are working with the Gyro Team in America as a crime-fighting team, while Lin and the Gura Gorro Rescue Squad are fire-fighting in Paris as part of their continued roll-out. There Lin chances upon Marie Bitou, who is section head of the European branch, while Koshiro Sasaki has returned to the Metropolitan Police Force as a commissioner and contacts Miyajima to tell him how well Makoto's new Machine Robo Police Division has integrated with the rest of the force as the Prime Minister arrives - and is none other than Sayuri. Watching on TV with Marie, Lin explains that the cadets all made promises about their futures after graduation - Makoto wanted to take his skill at protecting people further; Daichi wanted to make his father's company create Machine Robos for all over the world; Ace and Alice promise to train the next generation of recruits; Ken aims to be a doctor at a new international hospital; Sayuri wanted to create laws to help International Hyper Rescue become a reality. They collectively promised to protect the world, to the delight of Marie. Sayuri makes a speech at the United Nations declaring her intentions to make the world a better protected, more helpful and more loving place to rapturous applause. Lin then calls Taiyoh, who is at Machine Robo Rescue's Saba National base in Africa - where he lives with the Jet Team and Bone (who has now grown to giant size) and helps protect the needy. He suggests Lin visit, to her delight - only for Taiyoh to mention that she should bring everyone else too. Lin decides that a reunion would be fun, however it is hard to get everyone together and Taiyoh is roused by an alarm. The plans will have to wait, perhaps until Sayuri finishes implementing world peace, but the MRR class will always be together in their hearts.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • "Machine Robo Rescue Special - New Year's Day!" was broadcast back-to-back with "Sortie!" as an hour-long special. Neither episode has been released on DVD.
  • Most of the first half is peppered with clips, especially the tour for the cadets, but most of the second part of the episode is all-new animation.
  • The sheer amount of innuendo in Shō and Ken's interaction here is too leery even for the internet.
