Machine Robo[edit | edit source]
Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]
- Blackbird Robo (1984)
- ID number: MR-45
- Accessories: none
- Blackbird Robo was the 45th figure in Bandai's Machine Robo Series and transforms from robot to Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird aircraft. The hip and knee joints of the figure can become loose, though the toy's weight generally holds them in place well enough. Blackbird Robo has articulation at the shoulders. The figure is not wildly rare but demand is amplified by the whole Snoop thing meaning it attracts a lot of attention.
- The figure was later issued as the Robo Machine figure Sky-Spy with no significant changes, though a planned North American GoBots release as Snoop was cancelled for reasons unknown.
Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos[edit | edit source]
Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]
- Blackbird Robo (1986)
- ID number: MRJ-6
- Accessories: none
- Blackbird Robo was reissued for the Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline in updated packaging. The figure was assigned to the Jet Tribe, and featured no changes from the original Japanese release.
Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos (Action Toys)[edit | edit source]
Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]
- Blackbird Robo (2017)
- ID number: MR-06
- Accessories: guns (2), stand
- Released as the sixth figure in Action Toys' Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline, Blackbird Robo converts from Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird jet to robot. Blackbird Robo has good articulation for the most part, and is one of the most faithful to the original figures in the range in terms of configuration and even transformation. The toy comes with two guns that slip over the robot mode's fists.
Merchandise[edit | edit source]
Model Kits[edit | edit source]
- Mecha Fighter (Machine Robo Series, 1986)
- ID number: 6
- A Snapfit converting plastic model kit of Blackbird Robo was produced by Bandai in 1986; for reasons unknown it was titled Mecha Fighter. The kit required no glue and featured large stickers for detail, though paint would be required to make it accurate to the toy or animation model.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- A prototype version of Blackbird Robo featured additional red on the robot mode. This version showed up on card and catalogue photography for the Robo Machine and Machine Men lines.
- Bandai had initially planned to make a transforming Blackbird as a DX figure for the ScaleRobo DX series of large figures. Instead the type was switched to the Machine Robo Series with a much-changed transformation.
- Blackbird Robo's first appearance in the Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos series saw his face melt from the heat of a volcano during "Burn and Run, Brother and Sister Warriors!"; this was either a different Blackbird Robo, an 'illustrative' appearance or a gigantic animation error.
