Synopsis[edit | edit source]
The siege of Emerald City is briefly delayed by a severe storm; nevertheless Blue Jet is able to spot a large number of Gyandlar massing at the west side of the city, where Garudi is planning an assault with robotic Spider Machines piloted by the Gyandlar Devils. The west wall faces the moat and has a slippery surface under the guard of five cocksure troopers - Shuttle Robo, Bike Robo, Jeep Robo, Ambulance Robo and Police Car Robo - who pilot the Land Commander 5 battle armor. They brush off the offers of help from Rom, Jet, Rod Drill and Triple Jim, offending Leina in the process and even calling Kirai a coward. Rom believes the west wall is a weak point and the most likely target for the Gyandlar; he's swiftly proved correct as the spider machines scale the wall with ease. Shuttle Robo and Bike Robo are distracted squabbling with Jim and Leina but soon swing into action, activating Land Commander 5. This allows them to combine into a single powerful armour system. Rom, Jet, Drill, Karate Robo, Jūdō Robo and Kendō Robo also arrive to help but Land Commander 5 is trapped in webbing by the Spider Machines.
Rom is able to free Land Commander 5 with the Wolf Sword. The remaining Gyandlar are soon scattered, but the Land Commander 5 unit continue to treat the travellers with no respect. The Land Commander 5 team are honoured by the townsfolk - apart from Bike Robo, who stays on guard at the wall. Leina meets him there and he admits he knew Kirai, leaving him before Jet and Rom began their training. Garudi meanwhile is planning a second assault while the inhabitants are celebrating, using Spider Missile drones to vault the wall entirely and fire on the population. Bike Robo saves Leina from one but is gravely injured in the process; he nevertheless insists of joining the Land Commander 5 for battle. Police Car Robo is also wounded and Drill volunteers to take his place. However when the armour arrives the Spider Missiles also combine into a giant and disable Land Commander 5. Baikanfu is unable to free the team until Bike Robo is able to deflect a blast from the armour's cannon onto the spider robot and free them both. They make short work of the remaining spiders and Garudi retreats in the Varigale-X. The injured Bike Robo and Police Car Robo are taken away for treatment, though Bike Robo warns the battle isn't over.

Quotes[edit | edit source]
Notes[edit | edit source]
- As none of the regulars remember Bike Robo studying under Kirai this relationship must have taken place years before; this is possibly a reference to Bike Robo being the first Machine Robo toy.
Errors[edit | edit source]
Continuity and plotting errors[edit | edit source]
- Why exactly Bike Robo is mocking Kirai early on when he was a former student of his and admits to Leina he respected him is never established.
- The Spider Machines are much smaller than the other Machine Robo, yet seem to be piloted by full-size Gyandlar.
Animation and technical errors[edit | edit source]
- Bike Robo's chest is blue when he is first shown.
