On the Gyandlar mother-ship above Cronos, Gadess is growing tired of the delay in finding the Hyribead and berates his underlings. Diondra tells of a legend on Cronos of a leader named Lord Pylon who may be using it. Much to her displeasure her rival Grujios is given charge of finding him, boosted by part of Gadess' own power that gives him the ability to raise the dead. He revives several captains previously defeated by Rom - Kina and Koron, Mizuchi, Zagam and Jingi - and sends them to defeat Rom Stol's band, leaving them free to find Pylon. On the planet, Leina Stol and Triple Jim are resting at the settlement of Elie, home of Pylon; Leina makes fast friends with Pylon's daughter Canary. Rom, Blue Jet and Rod Drill have made an early start on the next leg of their journey with Pylon himself when Grujios and his minions arrive. They knock out Jim and mistake Leina for Canary as the pair are wearing matching veils. Grujios leaves a message for Pylon - he is to tell the Gyandlar the secret of the Hyribead before daybreak or he will kill her. Leina is taken to the Sky Castle, a leftover fortress from wars involving Elie, since converted by Grujios to act as his base. Leina is able to transmit a telepathic message to Rom, so the warriors rush back and receive Grujios' message from Jim. Pylon claims to know nothing about the Hyribead but does provide Rom with plans of the castle, while Jet and Drill set off to find reinforcements to help create a distraction while Rom rescues Leina. Jim and Canary insist on accompanying Rom, feeling responsible for Leina's situation; Canary has a golden key that belongs to her father which she says will open some of the castle's doors.

Rod has rounded up Combat Buggy, Vilion and Missile Tank Robo but Grujios is able to summon up a mist that leads to them getting lost in the desert near Elie. However, Jet arrives with Falcon Robo, Blackbird Robo and Harrier Robo and they are actually able to attack the Sky Castle and engage Devil Satan 6, allowing Rom, Jim and Canary to sneak inside while Grujios is distracted. Mizuchi stands in their way, now undead and seemingly indestructible but the key activates, telling Rom how to defeat him. Next they face Zagam, who is defeated by Kenryū - only for Mizuchi to suddenly appear again alongside him. Outside the castle Rod's team finally arrives at the Sky Castle after travelling underground but Jet's troops soon find themselves deadlocked with the Gyandlar guards before being attacked by fake versions of Rom, Jim and Canary. Back inside Canary's key opens a gateway allowing her, Kenryū and Jim to escape from Mizuchi and Zagam - unaware that Grujios is watching their every move.
