Bio Robo was released in Europe by Bandai in 1985 as part of Robo Machine, and transforms from separate Bio Jet 1 and 2 modules into a robot. The toy was originally the Chogokin Bio Man DX. The jet modules are a perfect size for Bio Dragon - unsurprising, as they were designed to interact in their original Japanese releases.
In North America, Bio Man was released as part of the GoDaiKin line.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Bio Man got a Robo Machine release thanks to Bandai's decision to ship unsold overstock from their American GoDaiKin super-robot line over to Europe, where some toys were given new Robo Machine branded boxes.
  • Bio Dragon's appearance in the annual story "The Professor's New Baby" was likely intended to be Bio Robo as the text vaguely implies it's a sentient robot in the story rather than a spaceship.
  • Like Tough Trailer, Pro Truck Racer, the Varigale-X, Daidenjin and Bio Dragon, Bio Robo originates from the long-running Super Sentai franchise, specifically the Bio Robo mecha from the 1984 instalment Choudenshi Bioman; during 1985 the series was being shown in France as Bioman, with a theme song recorded by the ubiquitous Bernard Minet.
  • A smaller version of Bio Man which only had robot and single spaceship modes was issued in Chogokin and GoDaiKin but does not seem to have been imported to Europe as part of Robo Machine.
