The GyroBots were a planned assortment of motorised action toys within the GoBots toyline. They followed a similar concept to the Power Marchers, being non-converting electronic robots that could keep their balance over various rough sources due to built-in gyroscopes.

Toys[edit | edit source]

Unlike the Power Marchers they were not radio controlled, simply having a friction motor, and were smaller. The origin of the toys is unclear; they feature similar mechanisms to Bandai's Walking Robo, but whether they were unused prototypes from that series, from another even more obscure series or were designed for Tonka is unknown. It is likely that they were not designed by Tonka as they had produced few electronic toys at that point.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • One of the Guardians was named in the 1986 Tonka catalogue as Hitch Hiker, with the figure that would actually be released as Hitch Hiker named as Quick Step, the name that would be used for the Renegade Power Marcher which wasn't pictured. As such it is currently unknown what the leftover GyroBot would have been called, and it might not even have received a new name before the assortment was cancelled.
