The TMR-01WR Wing Liner (ウイングライナ) is a transport that is part of Machine Robo Rescue.

It is the transport unit for the Red Wings team and is normally piloted by Lin Haruka and Kai Kitazawa. Its' vehicle mode is modelled on a high-speed train and can travel over numerous surfaces. It can be converted into Wing Liner Robo (ウイングライナーロボ) to access large powerful firehoses or to use its' tremendous physical strength, but this is an arduous process requiring two people to physically turn a pair of wheels.

The Wing Liner was first deployed when Red Wings were summoned to help fight a forest fire in the Central Mountain Area, with the Fire Team loaded onboard, with Lin piloting the transport to its' destination. Blazing Fire Fighter! It was later put into use tracking the out of control Sky Dolphin aircraft from below, travelling over the sea and allowing Kai to re-establish communications with the plane and help Lin reboot its' controls. Wing Liner then took the Fire Team to be on standby at the nearest airport, but Taiyoh Ohzora was able to pilot the Sky Dolphin to a safe landing. The Thunderous Stealth Robo Wing Liner was even used to take the Fire Team into action when Sayuri Suizenji was able to persuade almost all of MRR to help a boy named Hideki find his cat Laura. Emergency! Enter Battalion Wing Liner was then used to ferry away a large number of the civilians threatened by the eruption of Kaga Mountain. Aim to be a Robo Master! When climbers became stranded on Himaru Mountain, Wing Liner transported the Jet Team to the base camp. Clash! Jet vs. Stealth After Taiyoh briefly walked out on MRR due to his guilt over injuries suffered by Jet Robo battling Stealth Robo, Lin took over as the Jet Team Robo Master. However, when they were summoned to an emergency in Ōguchi Valley, Kai found operating Wing Liner alone to be overwhelming. Thankfully Musashi Miyajima was able to persuade Taiyoh to return and drove him to the battle in Police Robo. Look Out! Combination EX

Red Wings were set to carry out a drill at a floating industrial complex. However, meddling from the ratings-hungry Charmy Sato gave a Gura Gorro an opening to cause a genuine emergency, setting one of the sections adrift and others on fire. While the Jet and Fire Teams dealt with the blames and the Gura Gorro, Kai and Lin converted Wing Liner into the massive Wing Liner Robo using the hand-wheels in the cockpit. The huge robot was then able to plunge into the water and prevent a section of the complex colliding with another. Industrial Complex Panic! When Stealth Robo and Jay caused an emergency at the Machine AI Laboratory, Wing Liner transported the Fire Team to the site. The Invincible Hyper Stealth Robo! It was later the only transport able to negotiate the storm-swept approach to Nanagahake and thus was taken along by Arias Honoh and Ken Minami to collect Hisashi; luckily they had also packed the Fire Team, which turned out to be advantageous as Stealth Robo promptly turned up and started a fire. Ken's Rescue Spirit! Wing Liner Robo was again called into action to battle a fire at an industrial complex, firstly transporting the Fire Team to the location and then using its' massive hoses to help douse the flames. Fear of the Fire Storm It was later awarded with a Dynamic Moments award by Charmy Sato, who presumably has a different definition of 'dynamic' to the usual one. MRR 24 Hours

Jun Mizushima was unwittingly transported to the scene of yet another industrial complex blaze onboard Wing Liner, ending up in the middle of a trap set by the Disasters' new commander Colonel Hazard. Despite Hazard attacking them with BL Fire Robo and kidnapping the Aider Robo, Wing Liner Robo was able to help bring the fire under control. Colonel Hazard's Trap! After an airliner crashed in the Amazon, Wing Liner flew out alongside the Jet with the Fire Team onboard in order to help. However, once they arrived communications were cut off by Hazard's latest invention, leading to Ace, Taiyoh and a boy called Ricky getting lost in the jungle. After spending the night, Lin and Kai converted Wing Liner Robo and began looking for their missing team-mates. They had little success until Wing Liner Robo accidentally stepped on the jamming device, allowing everyone to reunite. Wing Liner Robo then helped out out the fires started by BL Fire Robo. Survival of the Fittest!

When Kaiser-G moved Hell Island over a volcanic island off Japan, all of MRR were mobilised in response with Wing Liner being used to fight some of the fires caused Activate, Kaiser-G! before helping to evacuate civilians from the area, and then as part of the subsequent rescue efforts after the Disasters commander triggered the Pacific 'ring of fire'. A Looming Catastrophe! When Kaiser-G threatened Tokyo and set the meteorite Tartarus on a collision course with Earth the entire MRR again scrambled, with Taiyoh and Jay joining Lin and Kai inside Wing Liner Robo. However, such was Kaiser-G's power that even the huge robot was unable to advance due to his gravity powers. Thankfully Machine Commander Robo and Hyper Shuttle Robo were eventually able to defeat the villain and deflect the asteroid, saving the planet. All Hands on Deck, Save the Planet!

Machine Robo Rescue[edit | edit source]

Emergency Launch DX[edit | edit source]

  • Wing Liner Robo (2003)
    • Accessories: none
Wing Liner Robo was released in Bandai's Machine Robo Rescue toyline in February 2003, and converts from robot to bullet train mode. In vehicle mode Wing Liner can carry Jet Robo and the Sky Robo, or any other team of Leader Robo and Supporter Robo, in the various carriages. These open and the large claws can be used to simulate craning the Machine Robo into action, as per the cartoon. The lower half of Wing Liner Robo has very little articulation due to the mechanisms involved in his giant hollow legs; as a trade-off his arms have movement at the shoulders and elbows. In robot mode, Wing Liner Robo is by far the largest toy in the range, around 150% of the height of the other transports, Machine Commander Robo, or the Hyper Mode Rescue Combination figures. The toy retailed at ¥6980.
  • Like the rest of Machine Robo Rescue, Wing Liner was not released outside of Japan.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Supplemental material gives the Wing Liner's length as 66.6m, width as 8.6m, height as 8.9m and weight as 444t. In Wing Liner Robo mode it is 30m tall.
  • Like the other transports, despite having a robot mode Wing Liner Robo doesn't show any particular signs of sentience, even compared to the Supporter Robo. It never speaks, and the only time it shows anything approaching independent thought is the comedic check of the sole of its foot in "Survival of the Fittest!".
  • As with Siren Galley Robo and Gear Dump Robo, Wing Liner Robo isn't mentioned in the 'future' episodes concluding the show.
