Taiyoh and Arias are assigned to the Red Wings team, but first they have to learn to work together.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
After an exhausting hike, the Machine Robo Rescue cadets are summoned to the Grand Hall for a meal, causing the hungry Taiyoh Ohzora and Arias Honoh to race for the food, though the hardy Lin Haruka is scornful of their weakness. While Arias points out that Taiyoh has completed a successful rescue Taiyoh is less receptive to his boasting, especially his self-proclaimed nickname 'Ace'. The cadets are less than impressed with the rustic dormitory provided for them - aside from the eternally cheerful Taiyoh. They are greeted by caretakers Satoko and Zenjiro Oigawa. Taiyoh and Arias continue their competitive behaviour and engage in a race, while the other cadets are all given K-BOY communicators and sorted into teams - Red Wings, Blue Sirens and Yellow Gears. As instructor for Red Wings, the already irascible Musashi Miyajima is annoyed further when they notice Taiyoh and Arias aren't present, with Bone informing them the pair were so busy racing they headed off in the wrong direction. Also irritated is Lin when Kai Kitazawa informs her they're on the Red Wings team too. Musashi sets off to find them, with their race having already taken them into the shallows surrounding the island, where both continue to argue. Unimpressed, Musashi assigns the pair to cleaning duty. More harmonious are the cadets of Blue Sirens, with Makoto Aikawa gelling well with the twins Susumu and Tsuyoshi Utada, even if Alice Beckham mourns that her group is a serious bunch. The Yellow Gears members Daichi Hayami, Shō Ashikawa, Ken Minami and Sayuri Suizenji also seem to hit it off well, even if Sayuri's mousy personality sets them off in a spiral of pre-emptive apologies. Meanwhile, Bone makes himself at home in the kitchen with Satoko. Some way away in a strange floating base a boy named Jay questions who he is, only to be told by a sinister voice that it is his mission to destroy Machine Robo Rescue, with an army of Gura Gorros standing by. Back at MRR, as Drill Robo, Police Robo and Jet Robo are recharging Musashi places Fire Robo in charge of supervising Taiyoh and Arias. Wanting to become a fire-fighter all his life, Arias rapidly takes a shine to Fire Robo when an alarm goes off, warning of a fire in the Central Mountain Area in a forest. Machine Robo Rescue scramble, as two backpackers are trapped by the flames - which are also threatening a nearby chemical factory. Chief Bitou gives the order to dispatch the Red Wings team. Jet Robo and the Sky Robo launch without pilots, and the other teams move to standby status. Fire Robo and the Aider Robo also prepare for deployment, entering the Wing Liner along with Taiyoh, Arias, Lin and Kai as the Floater Bridge connecting the base to the mainland engages. Lin pilots the Wing Liner towards the disaster as Musashi assigns Ace to Fire Robo, though he and Taiyoh take time to scowl at each other.
The Jet Team begin dropping canisters of extinguishing foam to try to stop the fire spreading towards the factory as the Fire Team arrives and deploys. Fire Robo prepares to head in and rescue those trapped by the fire with Arias, assigning the Aider Robo to contain the flames. After the wind changes, Fire Robo explains to Arias that it is healthy to fear fire. Lin is able to locate the trapped backpacker and the pair move towards the victims - only for Taiyoh again to sense something seconds before Fire Robo is attacked by a Gura Gorro controlled by Jay. Fire Robo activates a ZONE to contain the threat as Chief Bitou authorises combat. Inside the zone, Fire Robo battles the Gura Gorro, which identifies itself as a Disaster, while the Jet Team continue battling the fire and Arias heads towards the trapped backpackers. Arias soon finds them; one has a bone fracture, so Taiyoh sets off to help. Inside the zone, Fire Robo is faring badly against the Gura Gorro, while Arias passes out from the smoke after giving his oxygen to the climbers. Taiyoh arrives in the nick of time, allowing Arias to revive and use his K-BOY to initiate the Hyper Mode of Fire Robo and the Aider Robo. Taiyoh and Arias finally realise they work better together than squabbling. Hyper Fire Robo throws Gura Gorro, whose drill jams in the wall of the ZONE, then traps it in a hose and defeats the Disaster, which returns to a miniature form and flies back to Jay. Undetected, he swears vengeance before leaving. Taiyoh and Arias lead the climbers towards medical attention as the fire is finally extinguished. Red Wings are recalled, and Chief Bitou is pleased at another successful rescue. However, both Taiyoh and Arias are exhausted and hungry, having still not had lunch.
