Jay and the Disasters are nowhere to be seen - but instead MRR have to deal with the return of Charmy Sato.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
The cadets are reunited at Rescue Headquarters after their missions in space - and are immediately put back to work by the instructors. Shuttle Robo is returned to his Jet Robo configuration but Taiyoh Ohzora's good mood is spoiled by the reappearance of Charmy Sato, who has also joined the Machine Robo Rescue Experience Enrolment programme in order to get an insider's look at the operation. Charmy baulks at being told to clean up the hangar before the chores are interrupted - Red Wings are required to tackle a mountain fire. The reporter joins the team on the Wing Liner, but is injured by a water cannon immediately. His actions are so inept that Taiyoh and Ace actually agree on something for once, believing Charmy will increase casualties at rescue sites. As a result, Makoto suggests he report on the Blue Sirens instead on a less dangerous Crime Awareness PR mission. Once there, Charmy rapidly becomes bored, but his carelessly discarded banana skin causes Makoto and Alice to tumble down the road; Charmy tries to film them rather than help only to get tangled up, needing to be saved by the Utada twins. After that, Daichi suggests Charmy rides with Yellow Gears on a practice drill instead. He once again immediately becomes bored, causing Sayuri to organise some climbing training for him. However, Charmy is revealed to be terrified of heights, drops weights on his foot during a marathon, loses his swimming trunks when water-skiing behind an Aqua Robo, panics when performing a practice underwater rescue, gets claustrophobic in a tunnel and is scared by Shō and Ken pretending to be ghosts.
Charmy is more comfortable when it comes to filming the Who's the MVP? awards show for the MRR cadets - something about which instructor Miyajima is ridiculously excited. Police Robo is nominated for a the Comedy Moments Award for startling a woman, infuriating Makoto. However, Police Robo is positive as he feels it indicates he can put people at ease. Submarine Robo is also nominated, as is Drill Robo for putting himself out of commission by diving into the water. The next awards are for the strongest Machine Robo with Charmy's Dynamic Moments countdown, honouring Wing Liner Robo for its' work at the industrial complex, Siren Galley Robo saving the Takion train and Gear Dump Robo saving Marine World. The next section is the Good Play Moments, which consist of the EX Combination of Jet Robo and Fire Robo, the formation of Hyper Submarine Robo and the formation of Hyper Shuttle Robo. The cadets bicker over who is the best as Charmy prepares to announce the MVP winner when the stage collapses and the Machine Robo work together to stop anyone getting hurt. Everyone is then called away by an alarm, with a disgusted Charmy awarding Bone the title of MVP.

Notes[edit | edit source]
Continuity notes[edit | edit source]
- Shuttle Robo can be reverted to Jet Robo for Earth-based missions, something which seems to involve respraying him as well as removing the additional parts. The toy does not work like this.
- Charmy Sato previously filmed the MRR in "Industrial Complex Panic!", and seems to have re-employed Kijima as his cameraman.
- The crime awareness event includes Makoto cosplaying as Police Robo, Alice as Gyro Robo and the Utada twins dressed pantomime-horse style as Siren Galley.
- Jun Mizushima's father is introduced for the first time - revealing him to have been the passenger who spent most of "Arise! Siren Galley Robo" on the toilet.
- Taiyoh can't tell Susumu and Tsuyoshi apart. Gyro Robo claims he can, but fobs Alice off with an excuse when she tries to get him to prove it.
- The doctor from "Ken's Rescue Spirit!" is among the audience watching the show.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Like "And Taiyoh is Fine!" this is a low-budget episode, reusing and repurposing much extant animation and featuring a lightweight plot. As such, all of the clips in Charmy's MVP show are from past episodes: -
- Police Robo startling a woman and stopping a burglar is from "Emergency! Enter Battalion".
- Submarine Robo and the subsequent disabling of Drill Robo are from "Do You Like Hangars?".
- Wing Liner Robo's conversion is from "Industrial Complex Panic!".
- Siren Galley Robo saving the Takion is from "Arise! Siren Galley Robo".
- Gear Dump Robo saving Marine World is from "Call Out! Gear Dump Robo".
- EX Combination is from "Fear of the Fire Storm".
- The formation of Hyper Submarine Robo is from "I am Submarine Robo".
- The formation of Hyper Shuttle Robo is from "Taiyoh Ohzora, Into Space!".
- A new commercial bumper - depicting "MR-01 EX ExJetRobo Police Arms", i.e. Jet Robo with Bike Robo arms and Bulldozer Robo legs - debuts.
