A missing cat situation escalates.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Sayuri is out walking in Tokyo when she promises to help a young boy called Hideki look for his missing cat Laura. She returns to the base and tries to recruit the other cadets to help. Alice and Lin readily agree, while Taiyoh and Arias see it as another opportunity to one-up each other by finding the cat first. Even the uptight Makoto is no match for Sayuri's puppy-dog eyes, and Daichi also volunteers to help. However, back at Hideki's home his frazzled mother and indifferent father convince the boy that Machine Robo Rescue are unlikely to deal with something like a missing cat, causing the boy to set out alone - immediately running into Sayuri and her friends. Makoto sends the teams to split up and check the local area. Taiyoh and Bone soon find a cat but it turns out to not be Laura and attacks them, while Arias is attacked by a guard dog. In order to think like Laura, Alice dons a cat costume, while Ken and Shō break out a case of catnip - predictably summoning a stampede of crazed moggies. Despite these setbacks Sayuri assures Hideki they will find Laura, and tells him of her crippling loneliness - unaware that Makoto is nearby and heard everything. His K-BOY activates with a call from headquarters, where Miyajima is predictably apoplectic that the entire team is out searching for a cat. However, Makoto point-blank refuses Sasaki's order to return to base - to the delight of Sayuri and Hideki. In order to speed up the search, Makoto decides to summon Police Robo to help, with the others suggesting Jet Robo, Drill Robo and Fire Robo come along as well. As they launch Chief Bitou arrives on a break from his research and Marie acts quickly to take her father out for lunch before he realises what's going on, leaving Sasaki and Miyajima to try and get things under control as Wing Liner, Siren Galley and Gear Dump all launch, fully loaded with Machine Robo - and watched by Jay.
On arrival the Machine Robo are initially stunned to find they've been summoned to search for a cat but their concerns are no match for Sayuri's pleas and they agree to help. Police Robo soon foils a burglar but generally their efforts largely startle the nearby humans and get in the way - until one of Police Robo's roadblocks reveals Laura in the back of a van. However, as the driver believes he is about to be arrested for overloading his vehicle he drives away at speed towards Tamagawa. All four Machine Robo give chase, terrifying the van driver while Marie tries to prevent her father from seeing Cutie Kumamoto's news reports of the disturbances and Miyajima fields phone complaints from Tokyo residents. At that moment, Jay sends in a Gura Gorro to attack the Machine Robo, collapsing a bridge ahead of the van. Police Robo, Drill Robo and Fire Robo use their bodies to cover the gap and continue to chase the van, being too hyper-focused on Laura to even pay much attention to the Gura Gorro. Makoto at least has some situational awareness and activates a ZONE where Police Robo can form his Hyper Mode and fight the Gura Gorro. Outside, Jet finally stops the van only for Laura to evade him and the chase to start up again - with the cadets also joining in. Hyper Police Robo defeats the Disaster mecha, while back at base Chief Bitou has discovered of the various antics in the city - but as the TV coverage focuses on the various small crimes the Machine Robo solved in the process he is unaware that it was all about searching for a cat, and is pleased with the team's work-rate. Back in town Laura bumps into Jay just as Taiyoh arrives with Bone. He hands the cat over and vanishes, with Taiyoh not making the link between the stranger and the Disasters. Hideki is reunited with his beloved cat. His parents also arrive and apologise for being terrible human beings. Sayuri meanwhile tells the other cadets she doesn't feel so lonely anymore as she has them as her friends.
