Machine Men (released as Robot Machine Men in Canada, where the cards featured bilingual text) was a 1983 toyline produced by Bandai America, the first toyline to release the Machine Robo figures in America. The line failed to gain any serious traction and instead Bandai opted to sell the North American distribution rights for the figures to Tonka, who rebranded and repackaged the line as GoBots.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The rear of the blister cards offered a free gold version of Buggy Robo named as Buggy Man in exchange for proof of purchase for all six Machine Men figures. It is not known if this was ever mailed out.
  • The Machine Men name was also used for the Australian version of the line; however, there it was a resounding success and remained the line's name throughout its' life.
  • The line began a long international tradition of skipping Highway Robo.
