Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]

  • Porsche Robo (1983)
    • ID number: MR-20
    • Accessories: none
Porsche Robo was the 20th figure in Bandai's Machine Robo Series and transforms from robot to Porsche 956 sportscar. The figure features very few paint applications, with most of the vehicle mode markings being factory-applied stickers - these carry Rothmans advertising, in line with the famous Porsche team of the time. Unlike Takara/Hasbro figures of the period like Mirage, no attempt was made to alter the spelling. While basically every moving part on the figure is a lightning rod for wear simple gravity makes this less of a problem than you'd think, though the feet can be difficult to get even on many loose examples of the toy, resulting in a distinctive stagger. Porsche has some articulation in the shoulders. The Machine Robo box art showed a somewhat different livery, including darker blue markings running the entire profile of the car mode. This was likely a prototype, though it was unusual for Bandai to use such art on the actual boxes of a released figure. It is therefore possible that these changes to Porsche Robo were made very late in the production process. Like the rest of the range, the figure retailed at ¥600.
  • The figure was later issued as the GoBots figure Crasher, with no significant changes.

Machine Robo Best 5[edit | edit source]

High Machine Series[edit | edit source]
  • Porsche Robo (1983)
    • Accessories: none
Porsche Robo was recoloured for the Machine Robo Best 5 High Machine giftset, now featuring a new red colour scheme and updated sticker sheet. Most of the Rothmans branding side from the globe on the hood was removed. While various red Porsche 956s were ran by sportscar teams this figure does not seem to be modelled on any of them. Also included in the set were updated versions of Supercar Robo, Buggy Robo, Police Car Robo and Countach Robo.
  • This version of the figure was exclusive to the Japanese market.

Robo Machine[edit | edit source]

Machine Men[edit | edit source]

Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos[edit | edit source]

Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]

  • Porsche Robo (1986)
    • ID number: MRB-8
    • Accessories: none
Porsche Robo was reissued for the Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline in updated packaging. The figure was assigned to the Battle Tribe, and featured no changes from the original Japanese release.

Merchandise[edit | edit source]

A painted version of the kit, as per the brochure included with the figures.

Machine Robo Series Gashapon[edit | edit source]

  • Porsche Robo (1985)
    • ID number: 8
    • Accessories: none
A plastic model kit version of Porsche Robo was issued by Bandai in 1985 as part of their Machine Robo Series line of Gashapon. Porsche Robo was part of the first|second series and retained his ability to transform. The model very closely followed the transformation of the Machine Robo Series version; while it included some stickers for detail the kit itself was cast in a single colour of blue plastic and would require extensive painting to look anything like the picture included on the leaflet.
  • The Gashapon figures were never issued outside of Japan.

Machine Robo Series Snapfit Model Kits[edit | edit source]

  • Combat Racer (Machine Robo Series, 1986)
    • ID number: 5
A converting Snapfit plastic model kit of Porsche Robo was produced by Bandai in 1986; for reasons unknown it was named as Combat Racer. The kit required no glue and featured large stickers for detail, though paint would be required to make it accurate to the toy or animation model.
