The cadets visit Professor Suidōbashi and meet his latest invention.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
The cadets head to the Machine AI Laboratory with the Leader Robo, where Professor Suidōbashi will be carrying out the robots' maintenance checks. While the overhauls are completed, one of the guide robots lead the cadets into a room. A fire promptly erupts, immediately extinguished by someone called Captain Miracle, who welcomes them to the Hyper Disaster Prevention House, a new holographic training area and Suidōbashi's latest invention. He says they will be put through testing before Ace tactlessly points out that the scientist should be in their shoes before he critiques them. Suidōbashi points out he'd love to be involved in rescues but can't, what with being a paraplegic and all, and explains he instead puts all his desire to help into his creations. As a result the cadets agree to the testing, all introduced by Captain Miracle with his catchphrase "Try the miracle! Love is a miracle!". The first level is a mountain rescue test, which Yellow Gears have to do - with Daichi and Shō having to carry Sayuri and Ken on their backs. While both are able to reach the top and simulate switching their Machine Robo to Hyper Mode they aren't quick enough, and one of the droids batters them with a fan as punishment. Level 2 is an earthquake drill for Blue Sirens but they are too close together and their voice activations are garbled, leading to thumpings with the fan for all involved. Level 3 sees Red Wings have to go through a smoke-filled maze to reach the K-BOYs; Taiyoh attempts to climb one of the walls and is biffed by the droid. Both reach the K-BOYS simultaneously, but Suidōbashi tells them they were 2 seconds too slow and more fan-beatings follow. Taiyoh protests that a tiny margin shouldn't be a problem but the Professor warns them that one mistake can be enough for a Machine Robo to become dangerous.
Next is the Level 4 test, a transformation simulator for the transporters that sees the three teams race against each other. Again the Professor feels the transformations are too slow by a matter of seconds, though Lin at least uses her martial arts skills to make sport of getting beaten, in the end requiring two droids to trick her into it. Suidōbashi continues to insist that the seemingly tiny margins matter, but the cadets are stung by his insinuation that the poor results are down to a lack of desire to rescue people. He is initially unmoved until Kai talks to him nerd to nerd, showing him recordings of the cadets' impressive feats, including a space rescue, the use of experimental EX Combination configurations in the field and the successful use of the untested Machine Commander. The Professor finally relents and admits he can see how dedicated the cadets are - and tells them to get ready for the Level 5 test. Taiyoh's temper boils over and he accuses Suidōbashi of having no first hand experience before the ever-optimistic Sayuri points out that actually all parts of the operation complement each other perfectly. Shamed, Taiyoh admits that he still has a lot to learn and asks the Professor for guidance, and in return Suidōbashi asks if he can consult with the cadets about their first-hand experience. Sayuri leads the group in a chant of "Try the Miracle! Love is a miracle!". Just as they do the Machine Robo return from their check-ups and look on bemused - with all unaware that Colonel Hazard is spying on them. He dismisses their ideas of harmony, believing Machine Robo work better without Robo Masters - with a shadowy new figure joining his BL Machine Robo.

Notes[edit | edit source]
Continuity notes[edit | edit source]
- Kaiser-G is seen for the first time, albeit largely in shadow.
- As Lin and Shō note, the pink guide droids at the Machine AI Laboratory sound almost exactly like Marie Bitou.
- Lin's parents survived an earthquake, seemingly before she was born. And before they became lunatics.
- None of the instructors appear, being left manning Rescue Headquarters with the Supporter Robo.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Kai Kitazawa shows footage of the rescue of Shuttle 12 by Hyper Shuttle Robo from "Taiyoh Ohzora, Into Space!", the EX Combination uses in "Fear of the Fire Storm" and "Summer Holiday! Fear Vacation", Machine Commander Robo's battle with BL Fire Robo in "Combine! Machine Commander Robo" and deployment in "Proud Fire Brigade!".
- And yes, Ace does call out a guy in a wheelchair for not helping out more on rescues. And doesn't even apologise for it.
