With Taiyoh's confidence shattered time is running out for those stranded in space.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
With Taiyoh still traumatised from his returned memories, Ace is assigned as Jet Robo's Robo Master for the mission into space. With the mission set for early the next morning Ace begins late-night drills with Jet Robo, but everyone is too worried about Taiyoh, who is even refusing to eat, and recovering from the revelation that Stealth Robo is a Machine Robo. Meanwhile onboard the captured Shuttle 12 the situation is getting desperate, though Lin's belief that nothing with stop Taiyoh from rescuing them is unflinching. Honda tells Lin and Kai of Taiyoh's past and worries that the incident may have affected him, but quickly affirms his belief that rescue is coming. At Rescue Headquarters Professor Suidōbashi analyses the data from Ace's tests in Jet Robo, finding him to be 10% more effective than Taiyoh - though Marie Bitou wonders if it's really that simple given the bond between Taiyoh and Jet. Down in the hangar Ace shares his own misgivings with Jet, but believes he had no choice but to take the mission to rescue his friends as Taiyoh is incapable. A downcast Taiyoh then appears, offering to help Ace with the preparations for the mission. Jet Robo tells him that he has his own self-doubts since finding out Stealth Robo is a Machine Robo, but that his belief he is not a weapon keeps him focused and he is grateful for his ability to save people instead of destroying them. Jet pleads with Taiyoh to accompany him and he agrees, finding the sky beautiful on a flight. Ace lets them leave against orders, and Makoto tells him he agrees with the decision, believing the whole ordeal has made Taiyoh stronger. The other Robo Masters agree, as do Sayuri, Alice and Ken, who have logged on to provide backup from Headquarters. They all agree they we will together to save the hostages - and jointly face the punishment for disobeying orders afterwards. Meanwhile in Jet's cockpit Taiyoh's appetite makes an ill-timed return. Unknown to the cadets, Miyajima is watching approvingly.
The cadets make careful, quiet preparations to send Taiyoh into space. Jet is fitted with his new space-capable armour, and proclaims himself to now be called 'Shuttle Robo'. Sasaki then appears but can't see who's in the spacesuit; he's clearly suspicious as Taiyoh's impression of Ace is terrible but Miyajima redirects him and begins a mission briefing. The plan is to retrieve Shuttle 12 and transport it to the International Space Station, while Bone sneaks onboard as well. Shuttle Robo, with the Space Robo functioning as a booster, launches successfully. That achieved, Miyajima easily finds the hiding Ace and tells him the instructors know full well what's going on, though he seems delighted to have Taiyoh back to his normal self. On Shuttle 12 only an hour's worth of oxygen remains, and Jay taunts the hostages, believing it to be proof that Machine Robo Rescue are too weak to save them. Lin retains her faith in Taiyoh, however. Just then Shuttle Robo arrives, and battle is joined. Taiyoh activates the Hyper Mode, and Hyper Shuttle Robo is successfully able to counter Hyper Stealth Robo's attacks before landing several hits of its' own. Jay refuses to retreat but Stealth Robo ignores him and launches a barrage of missiles to cover his escape. However, one goes astray and strikes Shuttle 12. After a moment's hesitation at the prospect of another plunge, Taiyoh orders Hyper Shuttle Robo to follow the escape shuttle down, catching it and moving it back into orbit, towards the space station. He makes contact with those onboard, with Lin restraining Kai before he can share all the nice things she said about him. As they prepare to dock Taiyoh smiles, his confidence restored.
