The MR-01SS Space Robo (スペースロボ) are Supporter Robo that are part of Machine Robo Rescue's Red Wings, as part of the Shuttle Team.

Professor Suidōbashi had hoped to have the Space Robo ready before Red Wings were dispatched to the Ikaros 1 orbital spaceport to help with realignment of satellites. However, they were not ready in time for the station came under attack from Stealth Robo. Jet and Taiyoh set out to stop them but while Jet was capable of spaceflight he wasn't optimised for it, while Stealth Robo was. The Space Robo were completed and launched to help but Jet Robo had two of the Sky Robo blown away before being shot down and plummeting down towards Earth. The new arrivals were at least able to delay Stealth Robo's attempts to finish Jet off. Debut, 30000 Metres! Despite the efforts of the Sky Robo to slow their fall, Jet Robo and Taiyoh landed hard on Minamitobi Island. While they both survived Jet Robo needed substantial repairs, while the crash reawakened Taiyoh's repressed trauma over the plane accident that killed his parents. The professor rebuilt Jet as Shuttle Robo to operate with the Space Robo, readying a rescue mission for Lin and Kai, still stranded in space. Good Luck Taiyoh Shuttle Robo launched successfully and was able to defeat Stealth and recover the captured Lin and Kai, moving on to the International Space Station. Taiyoh Ohzora, Into Space! When they got there the satellite was overrun by carnivorous plants and under Gura Gorro attacks; while Machine Commander landed reinforcements to deal with the former, the Shuttle Team battled with the latter, also helping recover Taiyoh after he was blown into space. Save the Space Station! The expedition continued on to the Moon, where Shuttle Robo and the Space Robo were called into action again to aid with a rockslide at Moonbase 13, during which they again came under attack from Stealth Robo. With Jay's mental condition deteriorating, Hyper Shuttle Robo was victorious. Lunar Rescue, Begin!

Jet's contributions to MRR were honoured with the presentation of a certificate at the Space Agency, with the Space Robo also attending. However, the ceremony once again came under attack from the Disasters, in the form of BL Drill Robo. Taiyoh ordered Jet to use an EX Combination with the Space Robo when Stealth Robo also arrived and the two Disasters Machine Robo began fighting. Inside the ZONE, Stealth Robo surprised Jet by working with him to defeat BL Drill Robo, who was defeated. Stealth Robo and Jay were then lost to the sea. Stealth Robo's Fierce End When Kaiser-G completed his huge body and went on a rampage before directing the meteorite Tartarus on a collision course with Earth, the Professor reconfigured as Jet as Shuttle Robo. Hyper Shuttle Robo joined the attempt to combat Kaiser-G in Tokyo, eventually working with Machine Commander Robo V to deflect the meteorite and then finally destroy the Disasters' creator. All Hands on Deck, Save the Planet!

Machine Robo Rescue[edit | edit source]

Rescue Combination[edit | edit source]

  • Shuttle Robo (2003)
    • Accessories:
Space Robo was released in Bandai's Machine Robo Rescue toyline on June 30 2003, with four of them included in the Shuttle Robo set. Space Robo can convert from robot to jet mode, and also form either an arm or a leg for any Hyper Mode. The only difference between the four figures is the number tampographed on each one's chest. Space Robo was a recolour of Sky Robo, with two new sled/weapon parts (two of each being included in the set) that allows the quartet to combine and form a booster for Shuttle Robo's vehicle mode. The figure was only available as part of the Shuttle Robo set, which retailed at ¥2500.
  • Like the rest of Machine Robo Rescue, Space Robo was not released outside of Japan.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Supplemental material establishes that the Space Robo are 7.6m tall (or 10.6m tall for those with the larger acceleration boosters) and weigh 8.8t (or 11t, again for those with the larger acceleration boosters).
  • Despite being able to function without Shuttle Robo and being independent of the Sky Robo, the Space Robo are rarely seen separately outside of "Stealth Robo's Fierce End", missing outings such as "Machine Robo Out of Action!", "Activate, Kaiser-G!" and "A Looming Catastrophe!" and only entering in "All Hands on Deck, Save the Planet!" as part of Hyper Shuttle Robo. They also don't even get the simple voice parts most of the other Supporter Robo have, and are not mentioned at all in the two-part "future" finale. It's more than the Tank Robo get, at least.
