The Gyandlar arrive on Cronos
Official release coming!
This Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos section |
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
The mothership of the alien Gyandlar materialises above the peaceful planet of Cronos, a world populated by robots with souls. The Gyandlar are looking for Kirai Stol, who has the secret of the Hyribead - a mythical energy source needed to power their leader Gadess' plans of universal conquest. He addresses his troops, including his three lieutenants Grujios, Garudi and Diondra, and tells them he wants the location of the Hyribead. Grujios takes the Devil Satan 6 team and some other troops down to the planet to find Kirai and get the information from him. On arrival they raid a Cronos Tribe village for information, consuming the energy of those they kill when information is not forthcoming. Out shopping in the village are Kirai's daughter Leina and her valet Triple Jim. The pair escape when they're spotted, not realising that the Gyandlar are tracking them to find Kirai's location. Kirai is overseeing the final training of his son Rom, who is learning fighting techniques from his father along with his friends - the grim Blue Jet and the jolly Rod Drill - at Kirai's cavern retreat. Kirai suddenly collapses, receiving a vision of Leina and Jim being chased by the Gyandlar. He dispatches Rom, Jet and Drill to help his daughter but Leina and Jim are caught on a mountain pass by the Gyandlar troops and cornered before help arrives.
Three of the Devil Satan 6 are about to kill Jim and Leina when Rom, Jet and Drill appear. Rom uses the Sky Space Heart Fist technique taught by his father to help drive the Gyandlar off. However, Grujios has already left to find Kirai with the rest of the Devil Satan 6. Kirai puts up a good fight until Gadess uses his powers to intervene from orbit. Realising he is lost and must protect the Hyribead, Kirai destroys the cavern around him and uses the last of his energy to send the Wolf Sword Kenrô to his son. Rom is able to use it to summon the larger robot body Kenryū and fight Grujios. However the Devil Satan 6 merge to form a single huge robot, matching Kenryū. In response Rom uses the Wolf Sword to summon up an even larger body - Baikanfu - and forces the Gyandlar into retreat.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- The Devil Satan 6 (based on the same toys as the GoBots figure Monsterous) refer to each other by numbers only; the six individuals were named for the toyline but never in the anime.
- They are also the only Gyandlar seen in this episode to be based on a toy, something that won't change for a while.
- Blue Jet is an expert swordsman, and Rom has exceptional agility; Rod Drill has a head that's a drill.
- Tie-in material puts both Blue Jet and Rod Drill at 15 years old in the series, whatever can be gleaned from that with so little context.
- The Wolf Sword temple has giant statues of Kenryū and Baikanfu.
