Central Park Media were a home video company founded in New York in 1990 by John O'Donnell. They were one of the major North American importers of Japanese anime in the late 1990s and early 2000s, issuing subtitled and dubbed content on VHS and DVD. Among the huge number of titles they distributed were subtitled episodes of Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos - or some of it anyway; VHS releases were issued on their Software Sculptors label. Whether the DVDs stopped as a result of poor sales or the licence lapsing is not known. After several years of legal and financial trouble they declared bankruptcy in 2009.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The subtitles renamed several characters, notably with Kenryū becoming "Blade Dragon" and Baikanfu becoming "Vikung-Fu".
  • The DVD cover for Volume 3 includes a huge spoiler for the later episodes of the show, which Central Park never got as far as subtitling.
  • Central Park seem to have acquired the series by accident.
