Pioneer
Pioneer was a Japanese home entertainment company founded by Nozomu Matsumoto in 1938, and by the eighties they were on the bleeding edge of Japanese consumer electronics. In 1981 they span off the Pioneer Laserdisc Company for home entertainment releases. By the start of the 21st century they were also making DVDs and had shortened their name to Pioneer LDC; the home media part of the business was sold off in 2003 and renamed Geneon Entertainment.
