After three boringly normal books, the Renegades cosplay as Minutemen.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

RenegadeRenfair.jpg

The Guardians have tracked Thruster to a secret Renegade factory in the desert, where the villains are producing sensors that will control every human on Earth. They hide the Command Center before Leader-1, Turbo and Scooter move in, disabling the ship. Scooter heads in to further sabotage Thruster while Leader-1 and Turbo head to the factory, where the Renegades' robotic workers scatter as a firefight breaks out between the two Guardians and the Renegades Cy-Kill, Crasher and Cop-Tur. The Guardians are repelled without destroying the sensors, much to Turbo's frustration. Leader-1 is satisfied that wrecking Thruster will at least have delayed the Renegade plans. This is true, but thankfully the Renegades have a huge truck. Based elsewhere, Professor Braxis is unhappy about the Renegades delivering them overland and instead plans to send parts to repair Thruster - though he warns the 4th of July celebrations may disrupt the operation. The Renegades set off to take the truck, driven by one of the robot workers with the three Renegades in the back, to Braxis to collect the parts. However, Scooter had planted a bug on Thruster and the Guardians find out about the plan, and they round up their human allies and follow the truck in the Command Center. Meanwhile the truck finds its' out blocked by a 4th July parade. To avoid delays, Cy-Kill hits on the idea of hijacking a parade float carrying GoBot-sized figures; Cy-Kill disguises himself as George Washington, Crasher as Martha and Cop-Tur as a Minuteman, while they load the Thruster parts on the float. The ploy is a success and they delight the crowds, though Turbo is watching them. However, Crasher spots him and attacks in a rage, giving the Renegades away to the townspeople. She chases him out of the town but he lost her. The Renegades press on with their float while the Guardians lay in wait. Scooter planned to stymy them with a hologram of the police capturing Braxis but instead projects an image of George Washington leading the Continental Army. Nevertheless the Renegades beat a retreat, with a stray shot from Crasher detonating a warehouse of fireworks to fit in with the celebratory theme. Leader-1 is pleased, as this gives them another chance to destroy the sensors.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • As with all the books in the Golden Hero series, which occupies a micro-continuity seemingly set in the aftermath of the "Battle for GoBotron" mini-series:
    • UNECOM is named as "AstroCorps", while Matt's rank is given as Captain.
    • Braxis is a professor, and has yet to be exposed as a traitor.
    • The GoBots are still unknown to the authorities on Earth, though Matt and the kids aren't actively on the run from the authorities.

Real-world references[edit | edit source]

  • The 4th of July is a real American holiday, celebrating the anniversary of President Thomas Whitmore saving Earth from aliens armed with anti-monument lasers.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Dwight Jon Zimmerman doesn't know any Minutemen beyond George, hence Cop-Tur dresses up as some random.
