Davis began working in animation in 1918 at the age of 13, and by 1923 was working at Inkwell Studios. From 1942 to 1962 he worked for Warner Brothers on Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts, while from 1960 he began directing for Hanna-Barbera as well, with credits on The Flintstones and The Yogi Bear Show. After a sting at DePatie–Freleng Enterprises, including many Pink Panther shorts, he returned to Hanna-Barbera in 1985.
He was one of the six credited directors for the 60 episodes of the regular Challenge of the GoBots series. It is not currently clear precisely which episodes he directed, however.
