Van Guard[edit source]
First things first, great job on these toy photos! Glad to see more people contributing to this wiki. Second, I just wanted to point out real quick, I think you've mistransformed Van Guard; his "van wings" are supposed to fold around to the back so that they face the opposite of his head. Escargon (talk) 01:03, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- Also, when you get a chance, could you additionally add in Grungy's individual components, and maybe some of the Renegades piloting them? Escargon (talk) 22:38, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- Yes I'll get to work on it shortly. I'd also like to add some Rock Lords, this means I may take a shot at creating the pages.
- Also while I'm at it, what about the Action Toys "Masterpiece" Machine Robo toys? Do they count? They are licensed by Bandai, is that good enough to include them or would you prefer they stay off this Wiki?
- Mmmm, that's a tough one. I'll have to ask some others. At the very least, I'd say absolutely for the one Cy-Kill that has the alternate Hanna-Barbera cartoon-inspired face. Escargon (talk) 01:53, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Also, I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of deleted the Cy-Kill images that you didn't use for the article. Also, please do feel free to credit yourself as the uploader of the images. I'll go ahead and add those in to the ones you've already uploaded. Escargon (talk) 01:57, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Is that because they are different characters? In other words Jet Robo is not Leader-1 in the same way that Energon Optimus Prime is not G1 Optimus Prime? The toys themselves, say Tank Robo, are certainly evocative of both Machine Robo and Gobots, unlike the afore mentioned Optimus Prime examples. That being said this is really just a question so I understand, I'll keep the Machine Robo toys to the Machine Robo pages. Omegatron (talk) 17:30, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- I'd say that it's kinda more along the lines that Diaclone toys aren't really the same "characters" as the Transformers guys. And, from what I understand about the Machine Robo anime which these all seem to be based on, they're depicted almost entirely differently (the toys that we know as Fitor and Screw Head, for instance, are some of the more common recurring characters, and are heroes). I'll admit it isn't my area of expertise, but yes, for now, I'd say keep them separate for now. Escargon (talk) 17:45, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- That makes perfect sense, and I think you're right the Diaclone example is the right one to describe the relationship. Also, if in modern media as you say they are also depicted as completely different characters then the toy photos have to be kept separate.Omegatron (talk) 19:01, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
O.K. sorry lots of questions today. I have uploaded a new photo of Grungy with a both modes look. Is this what you want? If not feel free to revert to the old photo. I also took individual photos of the powersuits and uploaded a compilation of those photos with the renegades wearing them. Ultimately I feel they should go on the individual powersuit pages but at the moment we don't have those pages. Do you agree with this? I also uploaded courageous, just to test the black background as some things just don't photograph in front of white. Finally, how do you delete photos on this wiki? I can add new ones but can't seem to delete old ones I don't want.Omegatron (talk) 20:25, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- The new photos you took of Grungy look great! I'm not sure we need an article for the individual Power Suits, since they're pretty much always seen together in fiction; I'd suggest making a page for the Power Suits as a whole, and place both the pictures for Courageous and Grungy's individual components on there. As for deleting photos, that's something that admins will have to do. I'll go ahead and get rid of the ones that we aren't using. Oh, and yeah, if they're super-white like Courageous, I'd definitely say do it on the black background, and if you could do it like the way you did the new photos of Grungy, that'd be greatly appreciated. Escargon (talk) 21:07, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Also, one last bit: for future reference, could you please title your photos along the lines of "GoBots [x] Toy"? Just for consistency, since someone might try to upload, say "Courageous" as a screencap from the cartoon. Escargon (talk) 21:16, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
- Had the TFWiki Tumblr give you a shout out for your work: https://tfwiki.tumblr.com/post/189558387803/check-out-these-these-amazing-photos-of-some
- Thanks again! Escargon (talk) 21:59, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
O.K. probably won't do much till next weekend at this point, but next time I upload files I'll make sure I use the correct naming convention. As you may be able to tell I'm new to the world of wiki editing, thank you for all help and guidance, I really do appreciate it. Omegatron (talk) 01:54, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
- So made a few more uploads. Items of note: Crasher has slightly warped stickers, Pumper and Dozer are missing their guns. If any of this bother you feel free to remove the photos. Also sorry for uploading multiple photo files sometimes, I'm having issues with the photo uploader on the wiki, sometimes things look O.K. on my screen but not O.K. when uploaded and trying to upload a new version of the file seems to not be recognized by the wiki. Sorry if you have to do clean-up.Omegatron (talk) 21:36, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Next Steps[edit source]
So I'm running out of Go-bots. Next step logically would be Rock Lords. I have about 2/3 of them as well. The problem is no Rock Lord pages exist. I would actually not mind taking a go at creating some of them. Should I go ahead and do that? Is there someone I should talk to first? I can get the format of the page mostly right I think but don't know much about things like Renegade Rhetoric. Omegatron (talk) 21:01, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- Sure, go ahead. I do plan on starting on updating the fiction sections of these guys once I'm done with my current projects, so just leave them unfilled out for now. Escargon (talk) 02:22, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
I admit to confusion, Why is Gobots: Battle of the Rock Lords not in universe? Is that because its really a go-bots property? I honestly thought it was relevant. Please, this is an attempt to clear up confusion, not an attempt to argue, I simply don't understand.
- Oh it's in-universe, it's just that your write up wasn't. Basically, it's supposed to be written as if it happened, rather than just a piece of fiction. Escargon (talk) 18:06, 3 February 2020 (UTC)
O.K. so this is essentially a style guide problem? That I can understand. Is there a description of how fiction is to be treated on this wiki, because I'd love to read that. If not a precis of actual events is relatively easy to write. Do you mind if I have another go?
- I'd say check out Fitor's fiction section, for a guide to what do write. Go ahead after you've done so. Apologies for getting back to this late, been distractedEscargon (talk) 15:06, 4 February 2020 (UTC)
O.K. so third person, past-tense, non-fiction is the style. Obviously its fiction but we treat it as if it isn't. I will write as such in the future and edit accordingly. Thank you also on the clarification on the spelling of GoBot, that was actually a technical point I did not know. Omegatron (talk) 22:13, 8 February 2020 (UTC) Yup, I think you have it down! And you're welcome, it's something that got overlooked until the last few years. Escargon (talk) 23:56, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
