A sentient mountain doesn't take kindly to the Renegades stealing its ultium.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
On the barren planet Sarkofony, the Renegades have commenced a mining operation for ultium, the most powerful source of energy in the universe. However, the mountain they're mining the ore is sentient and doesn't appreciate its ultium being stolen and warns the Renegades...
At the Command Center, Scooter declares to the others that he's found where the Renegades have been and the Guardians fly to Sarkofony. There, they start fighting the Renegades, and the mountain literally explodes in anger, declaring that all of them are to die. The Renegades attempt to escape, but are foiled by a forcefield surrounding the planet and keeping them in. Realizing their only chance is to work together, Cy-Kill and Leader-1 delegate Scooter and Cop-Tur to find a rock to plug the volcano and Crasher and Turbo to get water to cool it off while the leaders put the ultium back in the mine.
After some fighting, Turbo and Crasher gather water in their removed tires. Scooter measures a portion of rock for Cop-Tur to cut. All of them return with their needed materials and Leader-1 uses his force field to protect them while they stuff the volcano with the tires and seal it with the rock. Cooled off, the mountain lets them live, as the ultium has been returned. Acknowledging the role their enemies played in saving their lives, the Renegades let the Guardians live for another day and, back at the Command Center, the Guardians make choice comments about their recent team-up with the Renegades.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- As with the other GoBots Magazine strips this could fit into Challenge of the GoBots continuity fairly easily.
- The cover promises Mr. Moto getting pointed at by Cy-Kill but this doesn't happen. Bah.
Errors[edit | edit source]
- The Renegades have gone to the effort of mining out the mountain - even leaving an entrance with a sign saying “Renegades Mine” for some reason - and the mountain only starts objecting as they're about to go.
- Crasher and Turbo fill their tyres with water to quench the mountain's lava but said tyres are immediately back on their character models.
