Synopsis[edit | edit source]
The travellers Rom Stol, Leina Stol, Triple Jim, Blue Jet and Rod Drill are searching the site of the lost island of Mu in the Lemur Sea, though they are troubled by acid rain. The local Submarine Robo inhabitants are trying to raise the island, which has a Wolf Emblem, from the Devil's Abyss at the behest of their high priestess Lady Nasuka. Rom spots that the Gyandlar are there as well, searching the island's main temple. The group head in to investigate and Drill stumbles across a hidden passage containing pictures of ancient Mu. They are confronted by Nasuka, who angrily tells them to leave and say nothing about what they saw. They soon realise she is working with the Gyandlar and using the natives to find the Hyribead for her own means. Unknown to her, two of the Submarine Robo find the Emblem - only to be eaten immediately by the Kraken guarding it. After they go she confers with the two-headed Gyandlar captain Lord Gillman, contacting Gadess on the mother-ship with Grujios and Diondra for further instructions. The travellers meanwhile split up; Rod Drill is left to guard Leina and Jim on a raft while Rom and Jet set off to the island to capture Nasuka and find out what she's really up to. However, the arrival of Lord Gillman and his Gyandlar troopers derails their plan.
On the raft Drill becomes concerned with how long his friends have been and swims off towards the island's Wolf Emblem, followed by Jim and Leina. However, the trio are driven off by the Kraken. Meanwhile Rom and Jet are locked in combat with Gillman, who knocks Rom into the ocean - underwater the Gyandlar captain is an even more ferocious opponent, and Rom is only saved when a whirlpool separates them. Rom washes up near an ancient computer he realises controls Mu before Gillman finds him, causing Rom to summon Kenryū. Even he is no match for Gillman, so Rom calls up Baikanfu. The battle is more equal but ends rapidly when the Kraken appears and destroys Gillman; it the advances on Baikanfu until it sees the Wolf Emblem on the robot's chest and withdraws. Rom and his friends leave the island on a boat, Rom explaining that the computer was responsible for the sinking of Mu, using it and the Kraken to protect itself from Nasuka and the Gyandlar. The group are then offered a lift across the sea by the gigantic Battleship Robo. Meanwhile, with Gillman gone and the priestess' ambitions exposed, the Submarine Robo overthrow Nasuka.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- Mu was originally build by the Mu Clan some 12,000 years before; while Nasuka tricks the Submarine Robo into believing they are their descendants she's lying.
- This is the first - and only - appearance of Submarine Robo in the series.
Errors[edit | edit source]
Continuity errors and plotting errors[edit | edit source]
- A drop of the acid rain burns into Rom's hand for effect but after this dramatic moment the perilous weather does no further damage to anyone.
- The episode doesn't really explain how the non-aquatic travellers got to the island or how they end up drifting away on a raft at the end.
Real-world references[edit | edit source]
- Mu is named for the ancient mythical continent.
- Similarly, the Kraken is named for the mythical sea monster.
