Machine Robo Rescue cartoon[edit | edit source]
- Voice actor: Takuma Takewaka
Jet Robo was one of the first Machine Robo to be activated, and was spotted by Taiyoh as he travelled to the Machine Robo Rescue base. However, the recruit was delayed and arrived late when the other prospective Robo Masters were introduced to the Machine Robo. Nevertheless when a fire broke out at the Landmark Tower the late arrival was cajoled Jet Robo into flying out, following the boy's hunch that Jun Mizushima was still trapped in the burning building. Jet Robo unilaterally declared an Emergency Level S to the shock of Police Robo, Fire Robo and Drill Robo, and took Taiyoh to the building. However, Jet Robo was immediately ambushed by a Gura Gorro. He kept the Disaster busy while Taiyoh reached Jun and then used his K-BOY to order the Sky Robo to combine with Jet Robo, forming Hyper Jet Robo. He was then able to defeat the Gura Gorro. Commence the Rescue Combination!! When a forest fire threatened a chemical factory the Red Wings team deployed in Wing Liner, and Jet Robo led the Sky Robo in dropping canisters of extinguishing foam on the blaze. Blazing Fire Fighter! Jet Robo later watched the Supporter Robo races that formed part of the Robo Masters' training, and wished Drill Robo good luck when he set off on his first mission. It's Party Time! Drill Robo
He had to contend with having both Taiyoh and Lin onboard when they had to scramble hurriedly to deal with the out-of-control Sky Dolphin remote control cargo, despite the other Machine Robo again warning him he was acting rashly. While Jet soon caught up with the craft he was unaware that the aircraft's mishaps were being caused by Jay and Stealth Robo, who attacked after Jet dropped the pair off on the Sky Dolphin. While Jet's agility meant he was able to keep Stealth Robo busy his lack of weaponry meant he was limited to keeping the attacker busy until Taiyoh was able to activate the Jet Team's Hyper Mode, allowing him to use his Jet Puncher to drive off the attacker, before escorting the Sky Dolphin to a successful emergency landing. The Thunderous Stealth Robo Jet Robo was later inveigled into helping the cadets search for Laura, the missing cat of a young boy from Tokyo called Hideki. He was nearly successful in finding the animal in the back of a van but was unable to grab the thing before it escaped and the chase continued. Emergency! Enter Battalion Jet was then part of the MRR response to the eruption of Kaga Mountain, keeping Taiyoh focused and evacuating observer Moriyama before returning and successfully picking up Toru Konoe, though he needed Taiyoh to activate his Hyper Mode in order to give him the strength and speed to escape another eruption. After the operation, Taiyoh was assigned as his permanent Robo Master. Aim to be a Robo Master!
The Jet Team were again called into action when climbers became stranded on Himaru Mountain. Jet and Taiyoh found one climber and the boy ordered Jet to get him to medical aid while he continued searching - only to be attacked by Jay. Jet Robo attempted to help but was ambushed again by Stealth Robo, and even after switching to Hyper Mode didn't help as he took considerable damage from the Disasters Machine Robo's laser cannons. Avalanches ended the fight, leaving Jet to dig Taiyoh and the remaining climber out but needed heavy repairs on return to Rescue Headquarters. Clash! Jet vs. Stealth Taiyoh's guilt over the encounter led to him walking out on MRR, but Musashi Miyajima pointed out that Jet felt equally responsible about their defeat, and they were reunited in time to help fend off another attack by Stealth Robo, using a EX Combination with the Aider Robo, allowing him to cover his opponent with foam and negate his cloaking abilities. Look Out! Combination EX The Jet Team later supported the rest of Red Wings when a fire caused by a Gura Gorro broke out at a floating industrial complex. Industrial Complex Panic! At the MRR open day Jet Robo was victorious in mock battles against Hyper Police Robo and Hyper Drill Robo. And Taiyoh is Fine! Jet Robo then had a third encounter with Stealth Robo; however, on this occasion Jay had been able to get inside the Machine AI Laboratory and recover Stealth's K-BOY, reactivating the Tank Robo. With Stealth able to enter Hyper Mode, Jet found himself outmatched and was only spared destruction through the arrival of Police Robo and Drill Robo as reinforcements. The Invincible Hyper Stealth Robo!
Despite a gruelling schedule Red Wings were called to Marine Park when a Gura Gorro attacked the amusement park and interfered with Drill Robo's attempts to hold the structure in place. Jet's timely arrival gave time for Gear Dump Robo to take over the structural support, at which point Jet was able to help with the evacuation while Drill dealt with the Gura Gorro. He then flew back to Rescue Headquarters, with Taiyoh asleep in his cockpit. Call Out! Gear Dump Robo The Jet Team then carried a second Cube submersible to a rescue site when Brad Bitou, Marie Bitou and Professor Tōru Suidōbashi became trapped underwater. I am Submarine Robo He later joined the other Machine Robo in being bemused by new recruit Submarine Robo's reluctance to join the others in the hangar. Do You Like Hangars? He later joined Fire Robo in combatting a blaze at an industrial complex, where they once again used an EX Combination to allow both to fly and extinguish the blaze. Fear of the Fire Storm
Red Wings were later dispatched to the Ikaros 1 orbital spaceport to help with realignment of satellites, but once again they came under attack from Stealth Robo. Jet and Taiyoh set out to stop them but while Jet was capable of spaceflight he wasn't optimised for it, while Stealth Robo was. Despite the arrival of the Professor's new Space Robo, Jet Robo had two of the Sky Robo blown away before being shot down and plummeting down towards Earth. Debut, 30000 Metres! Despite the efforts of the Sky Robo to slow their fall, Jet Robo and Taiyoh landed hard on Minamitobi Island. While they both survived Jet Robo needed substantial repairs, while the crash reawakened Taiyoh's repressed trauma over the plane accident that killed his parents. The professor rebuilt Jet as Shuttle Robo to operate with the Space Robo, readying a rescue mission for Lin and Kai, still stranded in space, but Miyajima was worried about Taiyoh's mental state. Good Luck Taiyoh Ace was instead picked for the flight, but conspired with the other cadets to get Taiyoh put onboard, something the instructors turned a blind eye to. Shuttle Robo launched successfully and was able to defeat Stealth and recover the captured Lin and Kai, moving on to the International Space Station. Taiyoh Ohzora, Into Space! When they got there the satellite was overrun by carnivorous plants and under Gura Gorro attacks; while Machine Commander landed reinforcements to deal with the former, Shuttle Robo battled with the latter, also helping recover Taiyoh after he was blown into space. Save the Space Station! The expedition continued on to the Moon, where Shuttle Robo was called into action again to aid with a rockslide at Moonbase 13, during which he again came under attack from Stealth Robo. With Jay's mental condition deteriorating, Hyper Shuttle Robo was again victorious. Lunar Rescue, Begin!
On returning to Earth he was returned to his Jet Robo configuration. MRR 24 Hours With Colonel Hazard usurping Jay, Stealth Robo attempted to demonstrate his worth to the Disasters by kidnapping Taiyoh and forcing Jet into single combat. Jet was enraged enough to comply, but with Taiyoh reluctant the result was a draw that left both damaged before Hazard intervened to take Stealth Robo and Jay away. Enter! BL Machine Robo Hazard then sent BL Fire Robo to cause destruction at an industrial complex in order to draw MRR out; Red Wings belatedly realised and the Jet Team were called in to back up Fire Robo. However, they were unable to stop BL Fire Robo taking possession of the Aider Robo even though they brought the fires under control. Colonel Hazard's Trap! He was later launched in Machine Commander in order to halt Hazard's takeover of the Uranos 2 communications airship, helping knock BL Police Robo off the craft. Along with Machine Commander he was then able to keep the airship from crashing. Airship SOS! Jet's contributions to MRR were honoured with the presentation of a certificate at the Space Agency but the ceremony once again came under attack from the Disasters, in the form of BL Drill Robo. As the Space Robo were present Taiyoh ordered Jet to use an EX Combination when Stealth Robo also arrived and the two Disasters Machine Robo began fighting. Inside the ZONE, Stealth Robo surprised Jet by working with him to defeat BL Drill Robo, who was defeated. Stealth Robo and Jay were then lost to the sea. Stealth Robo's Fierce End He joined the other Leader Robo in embarrassing Makoto Aikawa by making a huge banner to wish him luck on his date with Aki Saotome. The Story of Makoto's First Love Jet later joined in the drills Taiyoh had learnt from Takezo Okano. Proud Fire Brigade!
When Red Wings were dispatched to search for survivors of a plane crash in the Amazon, Jet was sent to ferry one of the injured to hospital. On his return he learnt that Taiyoh and Ace, along with a young boy named Ricky, had become lost in the jungle. He joined the search and located them in time to save them from immolation at the hands of BL Fire Robo, and then the Jet Team helped put out the forest fire. Survival of the Fittest! Jet visited the Machine AI Laboratory to have maintenance checks carried out, and joining his fellow Leader Robo in bemusement when he found the Professor and the cadets engaged in a bizarre salute initiated by Sayuri Suizenji. The Mysterious Superhero Captain Miracle After an amnesiac Jay was found and taken in by MRR his memories were triggered by Makoto. He hijacked Red Commander in an effort to locate and rescue Stealth Robo, with Jet and Taiyoh setting off in pursuit. They were able to catch and board the craft, but ultimately agreed to help rescue Stealth from an underwater volcano. He joined Gyro Robo in fending off a trio of Gura Gorros that tried to disrupt the operation. When a stray shot knocked Jay into the sea and Taiyoh jumped after him, Jet caught the pair. Be Reborn, Jay! After Hazard used BL Drill Robo to draw out the defectors, Jet Robo arrived to help Stealth Robo battle the BL Machine Robo, allowing his former rival to use the Sky Robo in an EX Combination after his own Tank Robo were burnt out. Jay, Join the MRR! Along with the other Leader Robo, Jet found the rebuilt V Stealth Robo's lack of team spirit off-putting. However the new arrival would later prove his worth in helping Machine Commander Robo defeat BL Fire Robo. The Strongest Combination! Machine Commander Robo V Jet joined the callout when Hayami Heavy Industries came under Gura Gorro attack. Daichi's Resolution Along with the other Leader Robo, Jet Robo was disabled by a freak resonance when the liner Poseidon's engine was damaged by a collision with an oil tanker near Rescue Headquarters. The cadets swung into action with just the Supporter Robo while the Professor worked on the problem, with Jet joining in time to save a child from falling from the passenger ship. Machine Robo Out of Action! After Hazard tried to use the Sunrise 1 satellite against Earth, Jet Robo was launched onboard Machine Commander in response, though the crisis was resolved by Jay and V Stealth Robo. The Greatest Errand of All Time
After Makoto and Jay were accidentally launched onto Hell Island the rest of MRR tried to mount a rescue, though Jet and Gyro Robo were unable to penetrate the heavy storms surrounding the flying Disasters base, with the duo eventually being rescued by Police Robo and V Stealth Robo. The Secret of the Disasters As Kaiser-G's plans reached fruition and he threatened an island off Japan all of MRR were scrambled to try and stop him. Along with V Stealth Robo he was able to evade a bombardment of Gura Gorro suicide troops and attack Hell Island; however, after they shattered it they were confronted by the huge body Kaiser-G had built himself within, which effortlessly swatted them aside. Activate, Kaiser-G! Jet and V Stealth attacked again but were again easily defeated, and knocked into a volcano. The rest of MRR were forced to withdraw and deal with the catastrophes caused by Kaiser-G triggering numerous other volcanos on the Pacific ring of fire. The pair were able to protect their Robo Masters from death but were grievously damaged and needed considerable repairs following their recovery. A Looming Catastrophe! The Professor was eventually able to do so, and reconfigured as Shuttle Robo he joined the attempt to combat Kaiser-G in Tokyo, eventually working with Machine Commander V to deflect the meteorite Tartarus from a collision course with Earth and then finally destroy the Disasters' creator. All Hands on Deck, Save the Planet!
Once again returned to Jet Robo layout, he helped fight a fire at the Wonderland Amusement Park and rescue a huge submarine before attending the MRR graduation. Fly, MRR! After the formation of International Hyper Rescue he remained attached to the organisation Sortie! but was now based at the new Saba International base in Africa, working with Taiyoh and Bone on rescue work in the country. - Shuttle Robo was released in Bandai's Machine Robo Rescue toyline on 30 June 2003, and converts from robot to spaceship mode. The toy was packed with four near-identical Space Robo Supporter Robo, which can combine with the robot mode to form Hyper Shuttle Robo. Only the number on the chest of each Support Robo is different, but they are designed so that either can form an arm or a leg for the Hyper Mode. They can also combine with Shuttle Robo to form a single large spaceship-rocket thing, the first official combined vehicle of the line. Due to the line's emphasis on compatibility these can be switched with any other Supporter Robo. Shuttle Robo has articulation at the shoulders, and is an all-new mould with only the head design carried over from Jet Robo; while the cartoon represents the change as additional parts being fitted to Jet Robo, the toy has completely different engineering. The set retailed at ¥2500.
- Like the rest of Machine Robo Rescue, Shuttle Robo was not released outside of Japan.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- Supplemental material gives Jet Robo's height as 8.6m and weight as 11t; Hyper Jet Robo's height as 11.8m and weight as 46.2t; Shuttle Robo's height as 9.6m and weight as 12t; and Hyper Shuttle Robo's height as 12.0m and weight as 52.6t.
- Jet Robo's design is the most overt reference to the original Machine Robo franchise of the 1980s, with his toy clearly based on the original Jet Robo and his animation model (with the various ports and plugs smoothed over) being all but identical, and indeed arguably closer than the stylised version used for Blue Jet in the Ashi Productions cartoons.
