Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]

  • Mixer Robo (1984)
    • ID number: MR-36
    • Accessories: none
Mixer Robo was the 36th figure in Bandai's Machine Robo Series and transforms from robot to Nissan Diesel cement mixer truck in 9 steps. In vehicle mode the mixing drum can turn, though the robot's face is visible on one side. For a small figure Mixer Robo has an unusual and satisfying transformation. The robot mode has movement at the shoulders and, unusually for the range, the head can turn. Mixer Robo's cab windows are entirely portrayed by stickers, some factory supplied and some from an additional sheet Some early examples of Mixer Robo featured white thighs, possibly as a production error; this version was rapidly phased out as a running change and is rare as a result.
  • From 1986 onwards Mixer Robo was repackaged on a blister card. The figure itself was unchanged.
  • The figure was later issued as the GoBots figure Block Head, with minor sticker changes. The figure was not released in Europe or Australia for reasons unknown.

Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]

  • Mixer Robo (2017)
    • ID number: MR-05
    • Accessories: knives (2), stand

The fifth figure in Action Toys' Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos series, Mixer Robo converts from robot to Nissan Diesel cement mixer truck. Designed by Awaken Studio, the figure features a mix of plastic and diecast. As a modern figure, Mixer Robo features a wide range of articulation. Considering the difference in size and technology, Mixer Robo is surprisingly faithful to the original toy's transformation, albeit with several extra flourishes and a robot mode with considerably better articulation. Ironically however it does lose the original's neck joint. On the other hand the robot face can now be hidden in vehicle mode. The figure also comes with a pair of combat knives that can be held in the robot's fists, or mounted on the sides of the cab. Nobody knows why, though - the character doesn't use anything like them in the anime.
