LJN Toys was an American toy company. Founded in 1970 by Jack Friedman in New York, their oeuvre included some of the most bizarre licenses ever, including making dolls based on Brooke Shields and Boy George. Other ranges included Magnum PI, Dune, S.W.A.T., V and Nightmare on Elm Street, with the company ploughing the "not really for kids but we know kids love it" furrow before finally hitting serious paydirt with the Thundercats licence. In the 1980s they also produced "secondary" merchandise for franchises owned by other companies, including Voltron and GoBots, some using their "Power-Pak" slot car system. In 1985 the company was sold to MCA before a number of reversals saw them finally dissolve in 1995.
