All Hail Zod!
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
The Renegades intended to attack the Cape Canaveral Space Center and steal an experimental space probe with a quantum supercomputer inside. Jig Saw scouted ahead using his disguise power to pose as Apollo. Matt Hunter realized "Apollo" wasn't the real deal and gathered Leader-1 and the Guardians to trap the imposter. Fright Face, Stallion, and Zod arrived to reinforce Jig Saw, and a fight broke out. When the probe was uncovered, however, Zod bit into it and received a power surge that made him super-intelligent. The Renegades retreated to report to Cy-Kill.
Despite Cop-Tur's warnings, Cy-Kill was delighted that his unstoppable killing machine now had a brain to go with it. He initiated a two pronged attack on the Guardian dry dock where the Command Center fleet was being repaired, with Zod at the head of the second strike force. The cooperating Thruster forces were successful, and a third of the Guardian fleet was captured. Cy-Kill left Zod in charge of the dry dock while he left to retrieve Roguestar and fortify their position. Zod had plans of his own, however, and menaced the Renegades left under his control into turning against Cy-Kill. He planned to destroy Cy-Kill and his lieutenants, Fitor and Gunnyr, by detonating one of the refurbished Command Centers he would present to the overlord when he returned.
Tail Pipe of the Guardians survived the attack on the dry dock and overheard Zod's plans. He reported to Leader-1, who tried to warn Cy-Kill about Zod's trickery. Cy-Kill refused to believe, and allowed a Command Center from the dry dock to land in Roguestar. When the Guardians launched a counter-attack and a stray blaster bolt hit the Command Center, it exploded and Cy-Kill realized Leader-1 was telling the truth.
The Guardians and Renegades united to attack Zod's dry dock, and he sent out all the Renegades under his command using the Command Centers. Out of Zod's direct intimidating influence, however, these Renegades quickly returned to Cy-Kill's side. Thanks to Tail Pipe, Leader-1 and Cy-Kill were able to Astro Beam to Zod's exact position inside the dry dock. Zod was caught in a blast and reverted to his simpleton self. Cy-Kill prepared to turn on Leader-1 then, but Tail Pipe vented the atmosphere in that section. Cy-Kill and Zod were drawn out into space while Leader-1's force field protected him. The Renegades regrouped and fled, leaving the dry dock back to the Guardians.
