Colonel Hazard's next target is Kimura Yoko. Who is a fictional character.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Colonel Hazard sees a trailer for Ninja Mama: The Movie, and struck by the beauty of Kimura Yoko decides he must have her as a fighter, seemingly oblivious to her being a fictional character played by actress Saeko Homura. At Rescue Headquarters, Gear Dump is launched with the Drill Team onboard, having been asked to provide help controlling explosives for shooting the film - and leaving everyone else apart from the disinterested Taiyoh upset at missing the chance to get Saeko's autograph - even Chief Bitou. Onboard the Gear Dump, Ken and Shō are also excited, though Sayuri doesn't seem particularly aware of who Saeko is - and Daichi is outright nervous even by his standards. However, things get off to a bad start when Yellow Gears park the Gear Dump in the middle of a shot, infuriating director Hotta. Oblivious, Ken and Shō spot Saeko and run towards her - only for her to run past them and embrace Daichi, who blushes and explains she's his mother. Chief Bitou and Sasaki were already aware of this - having actually read Daichi's records - but the news comes as a shock to everyone else. Sayuri instantly makes a good impression on Saeko with her immaculate manners, while Hotta and producer Anao are elated to have captured the reunion on film, while the assistant director Umeda offers them a part in the film. Ken and Shō eagerly agree - only to find out they'll be extras for a large explosion scene. Back at base, Chief Bitou explains that it will be good for the team to learn different jobs and a star-struck Miyajima attempts to volunteer Red Wings to 'learn', only to be shot down by the camera-shy Taiyoh. Kai notes that Hotta and Anao's films are known for their death-defying stunts, and back at the filming location Daichi and Shō have been dragged into playing child ninjas crossing a gorge by rope to rescue a princess played by Sayuri. However, their cautious approach infuriates Hota, so promptly cuts the rope with an axe to get a better response. As a result they bowl most of the ninjas guarding 'Princess Yuri' over while Shō 'frees' Ken - having the time of his life playing the role of Ninja Girl. He begins attacking people with a yo-yo on a chain before taking himself out, which is good enough for Hotta. Next the three boys have to jump down a waterfall, then go into a burning house - which gets a lot worse when Hazard, masquerading as a member of the crew, pours petrol on it. By then Ken and Shō are singed and exhausted, but Saeko claims they can probably do even more dangerous stunts - having told the director all about MRR's intensive training due to her pride in her son. While the cast and crew are having lunch Hazard switches out the explosives for the pyrotechnics with his own special versions. Meanwhile Daichi tries to persuade Saeko he's old enough to feed himself as she tries to spoon-feed him. During the meal hot curry gets spilt on Hazard, who declares loudly that he will have his revenge soon, though no-one hears him.
Later on Drill Robo gets involved playing a huge ninja fighting a giant monster (played by three of the Bulldozer Robo). Meanwhile Sayuri is sent to fetch Saeko, and finds her looking at pictures of Daichi as a young child, times she clearly remembers fondly. As the cameras roll Colonel Hazard suddenly appears, only to be mistaken for an actor who doesn't know his lines. Taiyoh and the others watching at Headquarters finally realise who he is as he begs Saeko to join him. Still believing him to simply be a ham, she refuses and he detonates the explosives instead, burying Umeda in a cave as a Gura Gorro appears. Daichi and the other Bulldozer Robo sprint into action, avoiding the knives the Gura Gorro fires at them, and the rest of the Drill Team whips off their costumes (accidentally taking out Hota and his camera in the process) to join the fight. As Drill grapples with the Gura Gorro, Sayuri and Ken double back to Gear Dump, and Gear Dump Robo soon has the enemy in hand. Meanwhile Daichi reaches his mother, who is trying to move the rocks burying Umeda. The Bulldozer Robo smashes its' way through the rock but they find Umeda injured further down the cavern. Daichi orders Bulldozer Robo to take his mother to safety, but she is alarmed at her son being in such a dangerous situation. However, he tells her he cannot rest if there are people he can save. He gets Umeda to Shō, who takes him to get his injuries seen to. Daichi then has Drill activate a ZONE before activating his Hyper Mode. Hyper Drill Robo easily defeats the Gura Gorro, while Hazard - still seeming to believe Ninja Mama is real - leaves. Saeko reveals to Daichi that she secretly hoped he'd fail the entry test for MRR to keep him safe, while he admits he only took it because she told him to but that he loves his job. She tells him that she is proud of what he is doing, and Saeko thanks Drill Robo and the rest of Yellow Gears for helping keep her son safe. Meanwhile Hotta and Anao emerge only to find the rest of their crew have long gone - and their camera has malfunctioned, ruining the film they shot. They are briefly tearful before deciding that the day was just rehearsing for the real shoot - causing Drill, the Bulldozer Robo, Ken and Shō to flee in terror.

Notes[edit | edit source]
Continuity notes[edit | edit source]
- Ninja Mama (with the same footage, which is perhaps understandable seeing as the trailer seems to have been released before the film is made...) was seen in "It's Party Time! Drill Robo", as did Saeko Homura, Daichi Hayami's actress mother.
- A pair of Gura Gorros quickly realise Colonel Hazard's plan to kidnap Ninja Mama is absurd but are too apathetic to do anything about it.
- Hazard's sticks of dynamite all have a little Disasters logo on.
- Unsurprisingly, for the role of Ninja Girl Ken dons a sailor fuku.
Real-world references[edit | edit source]
- Lin and Alice are seen reading TV Magazine, the publication that contained Machine Robo Rescue print material at time of broadcast.
Continuity and plotting errors[edit | edit source]
- Hazard doesn't even bother covering his head this time, just wearing jeans and a Ninja Mama crew jacket. It's looking more like an intentional comedy device, what with him yelling loudly about his planned revenge and no-one listening.
