Renegade Rhetoric[edit | edit source]
After Cy-Kill challenged the Guardians to a game of basketball, on the condition that the losers left Earth forever, A.J. Foster invited the Harlem Globetrotters to train the Guardian team—which proved necessary, as Scooter was unable to catch a basketball thrown by Globetrotter #22 without fumbling it. However, after a long day of practice with the Globetrotters, Scooter, Leader-1, Treds, Small Foot, and especially Turbo showed much improvement as a team.
After Wrong Way and Spy-Eye thwarted the Renegades' attempt to cheat to win the game, the game came down to two free throws given to Scooter. With the encouragement of #22 and Leader-1, he was able to make both throws, and the Guardians were victorious, though Cy-Kill claimed that their agreement had been violated by the Guardians' capture of Dr. Go. #22 congratulated Scooter on his playing, and promised him that if the Globetrotters started taking alien robots as members, he would be first in line. Notes[edit | edit source]
- The Harlem Globetrotters are a real-world exhibition basketball team, who had a Hanna-Barbera cartoon and guest-starred in The New Scooby-Doo Movies. Their appearance in Renegade Rhetoric was a nod to the fact that Challenge of the GoBots was also produced by Hanna-Barbera.
