Renegade Rhetoric[edit | edit source]

While stranded in the multiversal hub city of Axiom Nexus, Cy-Kill worked to rebuild his power base with new Renegades. Fright Face led a group of Uniend Predacons camped out in the Heap who confronted Cy-Kill during his exploits. Cy-Kill challenged Fright Face to single combat, with the prize of the loser and his subordinates swearing absolute loyalty to the winner. Fright Face agreed, but ultimately was defeated by the Renegade overlord. True to his word, Fright Face made his men into utterly loyal servants of the mighty Cy-Kill. Cy-Kill even used his old Puzzler technology to give the Predacons a combiner form as Monsterous. Fright Face and the others traveled with Cy-Kill back to his home reality when he abandoned Axiom Nexus. Renegade Rhetoric

Cy-Kill and his new recruits emerged in the midst of an epic battle between the Guardian fleet and Rogue Star. As Monsterous, Fright Face and his team gleefully tore through the surprised Courageous before turning on the Command Centers. Unfortunately, Leader-1 tricked Cy-Kill into firing a killing shot at him, which he dodged so that it hit Monsterous instead. This respite allowed the Guardians to retreat, but the Renegades had clearly won the day. Opportunity Knocks Part 2 Cy-Kill dispatched Fright Face and the creature warriors to Philadelphia as Monsterous to draw Courageous out for another battle, but Monsterous was overwhelmed by a squad of Guardian Boomers. Six Heads are Better than One Although the Monsterous Renegades began to integrate into the ranks of Cy-Kill's troops, Fright Face himself remained standoff-ish. Cy-Kill was secretly relieved by this development, as he didn't want Monsterous to fall under the sway of the untrustworthy Monster GoBots. So long as they didn't challenge him to a duel (and win), Cy-Kill felt confident in Fright Face's loyalties. Cy-Kill brought Monsterous to an ambush to try and seize a matter transmutation ring, but the surprise appearance of Courageous made it a fair fight, and so the Renegades retreated again. One Born Every Minute

At the Cape Canaveral Space Center, Fright Face joined Zod, Stallion, and Jig Saw on an infiltration mission to retrieve a quantum supercomputer from a new space probe. Jig Saw's "Apollo" disguise failed, but Fright Face got ahold of General Newcastle and forced Leader-1 to provide the probe. Before the Renegades could secure the probe, however, Zod bit down into it, shocking him with a quantum-powered electrical surge. Suddenly super-intelligent, Fright Face decided to end the mission and bring the changed Zod back to Cy-Kill. In Zod We Trust When the Guardians and UNECOM came to Quartex to sign a tri-planet alliance treaty with Boulder's Rock Lords, Cy-Kill and Magmar decided to intervene. Monsterous and Puzzler were pitted against Courageous and the Fossil Lord's Fossilsaurus until Cy-Kill tipped his hand and revealed the Renegade Power Suit Warrior, Nemesis. Combiner Wars Part 1 The forces of good rallied, however, and prepared a counter-strike. Monsterous was diverted into battle with the Action Shock Rocks, leaving Courageous and Fossilsaurus evenly pitted against Nemesis and Puzzler in the rematch. Combiner Wars Part 2

Monsterous[edit | edit source]

  • Fright Face (GoBots, 1986)
    • Giant Monsterous Head
    • Accessories: none
Fright Face was released by Tonka in the third series of GoBots, and converts from robot to flying monster jet thing in 4 steps. The toy shares a mould with Gillhead from the Devil Satan 6 set in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline, with a different blue primary colour scheme; it is unclear which was the original release. Fright Face combines with his team-mates South Claw, Weird Wing, Heart Attack, Fangs and Gore Jaw to form Monsterous; Fright Face forms the head and shoulders. Individually, he has articulation at the shoulders, hips and knees, though all of this is only parallel to the body. In common with Heart Attack, his arms are permanently bent at the elbow. Like the rest of the Monsterous team, the rear of his card featured a character biography, while the instructions were printed on a separate leaflet.
  • Fright Face was made available during the third series as part of the Monsterous assortment (#7301) and remained available for the rest of the line's life on toy shelves.
