Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]

  • Eagle Robo (1983)
    • ID number: MR-25
    • Accessories: none
Eagle Robo was the 25th figure in Bandai's Machine Robo Series and transforms from robot to McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle jet fighter. The head of the figure takes design cues from a pilot's visor and oxygen mask. Instead of realistic undercarriage like most other Machine Robo jets, Eagle Robo has four small caster wheels under his fuselage. The figure's grey plastic shows stress easily and the rear wings often break free. Like the rest of the range, the figure retailed at ¥600.
  • The figure was later issued as the GoBots figure Leader-1, with no significant changes beyond the omission of the additional sticker sheet, meaning the American version is missing the various USAF/jet mode markings.

Sky Machine Series[edit | edit source]
  • Eagle Robo (1983)
    • Accessories: none
Eagle Robo was recoloured for the Machine Robo Best 5 Sky Machine giftset, now featuring a new white/blue colour scheme. Also included in the set were updated versions of Jet Robo, Gyro Robo, Shuttle Robo and Harrier Robo. This version of the figure was exclusive to the Japanese market.

Big Machine Robo[edit | edit source]

  • Big Eagle Robo (1985)
    • ID number: BMR-02
    • Accessories: none
Big Eagle Robo was an upscaled version of Eagle Robo as part of the Big Machine Robo Series. The Big Machine Robo version is generally sleeker and more impressive than the regular version, and features retractable tricycle undercarriage. Unfortunately the robot mode puts a lot of weight on the tailfins and rear wings, meaning these parts can also stress and break over time. The figure retailed at ¥1650.
  • The figure was later issued by Tonka as the Super GoBots version of Leader-1, with a different sticker sheet.

    • Accessories: none
The original Eagle Robo was reissued for the Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline in updated packaging. The figure was assigned to the Jet Tribe, and featured no changes from the original Japanese release.

Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]

  • Eagle Robo (2016)
    • ID number: MR-03
    • Accessories: double missiles (2), fuselage parts (2), connector, stand
The third figure in Action Toys' Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos series, Eagle Robo converts from McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle to robot in 23 steps. The underwing payload and removable fuselage parts combine to form a gun, though the wrists struggle to support its' weight. The figure features a mix of plastic and diecast. Eagle Robo's head is mounted on a ball joint while the figure also has movement at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips, knees and ankles. Unlike previous versions of the figure it has conventional feet, made from the Jet engine nozzles. Curiously the head cast looks very little like that of Eagle Robo's animation model or original figure. Similarly the gun looks nothing like anything the character wielded in the show; it can be split in half and clipped to the sides of the F-15 fuselage if desired. Also strange is that Eagle Robo was likely put out early in the series due to his Western fame but is a good inch taller than Bike Robo, making them a poor match for a Go-Bots display.

Merchandise[edit | edit source]

A painted version of the kit, as per the brochure included with the figures.

Machine Robo Series Gashapon[edit | edit source]

  • Eagle Robo (1985)
    • ID number: 6
    • Accessories: none
A plastic model kit version of Eagle Robo was issued by Bandai in 1985 as part of their Machine Robo Series line of Gashapon. Eagle Robo was part of the first series and retained his ability to transform. The model closely followed the transformation of the Machine Robo Series version but did include some simplification around the nose/head section; this also led to the jet mode having tricycle undercarriage, unlike the full-size version with its' four trolley wheels. While it included some stickers for detail the kit itself was cast in a single colour of blue plastic and would require extensive painting to look anything like the picture included on the leaflet.
  • The Gashapon figures were never issued outside of Japan, though the figure does bear some resemblance to the Gum Tresor Leader-1 model.

Notes[edit | edit source]
