Machine Robo Series[edit | edit source]
- Apache Robo (1984)
- ID number: MR-41
- Accessories: Rotor Cutter
- Apache Robo was the 41st figure in Bandai's Machine Robo Series and transforms from robot to Hughes AH-64 Apache attack helicopter in 9 steps. The rocket pods for the copter are detachable for some versions of the toy, but not on others - this was possibly an assembly error where some batches didn't have the parts glued in place. Beyond the perennial helicopter-with-removable-blades-that-can-get-lost thing Apache Robo has two other weak spots - the button on the tab to raise his head and the flip-down panel that makes his robot mode chest can both come loose easily. While either can be popped back on it does mean these parts can be missing from loose examples. The blades don't really have anywhere to go in robot mode, though they can be left in position on the chest if so desired.
- From 1986 onwards Apache Robo was repackaged on a blister card. The figure itself was unchanged.
- The figure was later issued as the GoBots figure Wrong Way and the Robo Machine figure Sky Gun with no significant changes. It was also recoloured as the Machine Men figure Apache Copter Man.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- A prototype version of Apache Robo featured a lighter olive main colour, which was later used as Wrong Way for the Australian Machine Men toyline.
- While Big Apache Robo uses the same alternate mode as Apache Robo, but it is not clear if they are the same character so for the time being this wiki is treating them as separate characters.
