Zarios was one of the semi-sentient recyclable trooper types used by the Gyandlar, regularly destroyed battling the Machine Robo army on Cronos. Seemingly entirely robotic, these were routinely destroyed and later rebuilt on the Gyandlar mother-ship. One joined Casmodon and Baldas in menacing Bally near Korora, but the trio were taken out by Rom Stol. The Man from Gyandlar Zarios later helped Diondra guard the captured Machine Robo from Java's village. Rockgiran versus Rockdon Zarios was a regular face in the Gyandlar attacks on Emerald City. Devil Invader Series[edit | edit source]

  • Zarios (1984)
    • ID number: MRD-103
    • Accessories: none
Zarios was the 3rd figure in Bandai's Devil Invader Series and transforms from robot to monster tank in 7 steps. Zarios features die-cast metal parts and ball-jointed elbows, a rarity for a 1980s robot toy. The sliding joints inside the legs wear down very easily, meaning most loose samples of Zarios will often have difficulty standing in robot mode.
  • The figure was later issued as the GoBots figure Scorp, with no significant changes.

Machine Robo Series Gashapon[edit | edit source]

  • Zarios (1985)
    • ID number: 11
    • Accessories: none
A plastic model kit version of Zarios was issued by Bandai in 1985 as part of their Machine Robo Series line of Gashapon. Zarios was part of the second series and retained his ability to transform. The model very closely followed the transformation of the Machine Robo Series version; while it included some stickers for detail the kit itself was cast in a single colour of blue plastic and would require extensive painting to look anything like the picture included on the leaflet.
  • The Gashapon figures were never issued outside of Japan.
