Waddingtons was a British manufacturer of board games and jigsaw puzzles. Founded as a printing company in the 19th century, they moved into board games in 1922. Among their hits were Cluedo (licenced to Parker Brothers in America as Clue, and for which they received the UK rights to Monopoly in exchange), Subbuteo and - from 1982 - Top Trumps.

Like many established companies facing the 1980s onslaught from TV-supported toys, they acquired licences to produce branded merchandise, including from Robo Machine - then trying to strengthen its connection to Challenge of the GoBots with the cumbersome title Challenge of the GoBots featuring Robo Machine. Four 150-piece puzzles were produced, using cardboard pieces. However, as an awesome bonus each included an 11" by 17" 'Super Print' featuring a textless version of the high-quality Bandai/Tonka promotional art used for the puzzle. Neat!

It did Waddingtons little good, though - in 1994 the company was purchased by Hasbro.
