Synopsis[edit | edit source]

ROC232.jpg

Gadess sends Garudi and the Gyandlar Devils down to Cronos on Varigale-X to investigate a volcano that powers the whole city of Beth Bianco via thermal energy. Rom - along with Leina, Blue Jet, Rod Drill and Triple Jim - have arrived in the same place and he immediately has to save a girl named Fam from being run over by a careless Dump Robo driven by Karate Robo; he notices she's wearing a strange necklace but she runs off before he can have a closer look. Fam heads off to look after her flowerbeds but is menaced by Garudi and his troops; the Gyandlar is also interested in her necklace, which has the Wolf Emblem on it. Rom appears to confront the Gyandlar; the fight is interrupted by an earthquake and Garudi retreats. Fam shows Rom's group around the city, where the travellers note how the townspeople squander their resources, and they meet her father, a Supercar Robo geologist Nepus, whose warnings of an impending disastrous volcanic eruption are ignored by the authorities. He shows his findings to the travellers, indicating that the problem is the thermal generator that powers the city. Garudi has also come to the same conclusion and resolves to get Fam's necklace before the generator erupts. The girl tells Leina her necklace was given to her by her real father - a Buggy Robo - and that there is a legend a wolf will appear to save the city if the volcano erupts. They are then disturbed by the Gyandlar, who have come for the necklace, and take Fam away.

The volcano begins erupting, causing chaos in the town. Leina then arrives to tell them Fam has been taken and Nepus explains that her necklace is the key for the town's cooling system, devised to save it from a volcanic eruption. The captive Fam refuses to tell Garudi what it's for while Rom is held up battling a Gyandlar captain named Magmanian, who is well suited to the combat conditions. Drill makes trenches to try and divert the lava but there is too much for his plan to work while Magmanian is getting stronger from the heat of the eruption and easily handles both Kenryū and Baikanfu as well as Jet Tribe reinforcements, though Fam is able to snatch her necklace back from Garudi and escape. She falls from the Gyandlar ship and is caught by Jet. Nepus tells her how to activate the cooling system - built in a large stone Wolf Emblem near her flowers - and she does so just as Baikanfu is defeated. The system freezes the lava, allowing Baikanfu to revive and easily defeat Magmanian. Watching from above Garudi realises he was too easy on Fam and leaves, vowing to be tougher next time. The townspeople are forced to evacuate from the damage, as Leina wonders if they will be more responsible with such power in the future. Rom revolves to escort the refugees to safety, much to Fam's delight.

Notes[edit | edit source]

ROC234.jpg
  • This is the first episode to feature Karate Robo; while three Tough Trailers are seen in vehicle mode at the end this may be an animation error.
  • There is also a one-off Transformers-style scene transition between Garudi withdrawing and the townspeople boarding the Tough Trailers.
  • Blackbird Robo, Harrier Robo and Cessna Robo are joined in their attack on Magmanian by none other than the Zeta Gundam; it is initially red in its' Wave Rider mode but after the Gyandlar captain plucks it from the sky and throws it into the ground the robot mode is briefly seen in Sunrise-accurate colours before being annihilated by the lava.
  • Xabungle can also be seen beckoning refugees into the trailers.

Errors[edit | edit source]

Animation and technical errors[edit | edit source]

  • The heads of Triple Jim and Baldas are frequently red rather than black.
