Triple Jim (トリプル・ジム) is a Machine Robo from Cronos, and a member of the Battle Tribe. A good friend of the Stol family, he is frequently left in charge of Leina Stol despite his almost complete lack of fighting skills. However, Jim can be courageous when he has to be and is well-liked by all; he improved his skills as the battle against the Gyandlar went on. He is 2.98 metres tall and weighs 3.85 tons. As his name suggests he is a triple changer with robot, car and helicopter modes.

After crossing the dimensional barrier Triple Jim became human, though he retained a suit of armour closely resembling his previous form. He arrived on Electronic Planet B-1, where he was captured along with Drill and Jet by the wizard Velt Zaruk and his paramour Myra. Thanks to Rom, Leina, Shuli and Rall he was freed, and helped battle Myra while Leina helped Rom fight Zaruk. How Triple Jim was simultaneously turned into both the robotic Triple Jim seen on B-1 and the human version of Triple Jim that seems to have travelled with Rom to B-1 at about the same time is unclear.

Toys[edit | edit source]

Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos[edit | edit source]

  • Triple Jim (1986)
    • ID number: MRJ
    • Accessories: Missile Launcher (2), Missiles (6)
Triple Jim was released by Bandai in the Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos toyline, and transforms from robot to sports car to helicopter. The precise origins of the toy are unclear; it may be a repurposed prototype from another line or one of the few all-new moulds created for the Revenge of Cronos line. Triple Jim is considerably larger than most of the toys in the range, around the size of a Secret Rider, and even more awkward-looking than his animation model. Unlike most Machine Robo helicopters, the rotors are not a separate part and fold away for the robot/car modes; unfortunately this means they can occasionally be snapped on loose examples; the canopy is also prone to popping off and getting lost. Triple Jim has articulation in the arms and the hips, though the large feet mean the latter is of little use. The missile launchers are spring-loaded and can be mounted on either of the vehicle modes or held by the robot, for which they can also clip together to form a double launcher. The figure retailed at ¥2200.
  • Triple Jim was not released outside of Japan.
