Cy-Kill gets access to the Dark Net.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Returning to the Command Center on Earth, Scooter is ambushed by Cy-Kill, Cop-Tur, Crasher and Professor Braxis, who captured him. They locked him in a cell in an AstroCorps Operations Control warehouse, planning to use him as leverage to get the Guardians to return to GoBotron and leave Earth to the Renegades. However, as soon as they left Scooter was able to pick the lock and poked around the base to get clues about their plan. He was rescued by Leader-1 and Turbo, who took him back to the Command Center, where he reported on their plan - Operation Dark Net. In order to counter it, Leader-1 has his leading expert on Dark Net Theory - Blaster - sent to Earth via Astrobeam. The new arrival explains that Dark Net Theory was devised as a forcefield by inventing a portable black hole, but his research was stolen by Cy-Kill. The Guardians decided to set up a secret base at an abandoned schoolhouse that could function as a base for Blaster to research finding something to counter the Dark Net. However, the Renegades have already put it into use, covering America with a black hole. Cy-Kill then captures Matt while the human is out on a scavenging run for parts and straps him into a mind-control machine. Matt was sent off towards the Dark Net onboard a shuttle, causing much alarm to A.J. and Nick, watching from the schoolhouse hideaway. Blaster meanwhile had finished his work and counters the Dark Net. The Renegades are able to track the device to its' source and attack the schoolhouse, battling Leader-1, Turbo and Blaster - while Scooter 'saved his strength'. While the battle is even Crasher is able to smash Blaster's machine and the Dark Net reappears, dragging Matt towards it as the Renegades bug out. Leader-1 changed into jet mode and set off after Matt's shuttle while Blaster, Turbo, Scooter wreck the Dark Net machinery. They get back to the Command Center, where Leader-1 and Matt were waiting. Blaster's Astrobeam reverts and everyone celebrates.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • As with all the books in the Golden Hero series, which occupies a micro-continuity seemingly set in the aftermath of the "Battle for GoBotron" mini-series:
    • UNECOM is named as "AstroCorps", while Matt's rank is given as Captain.
    • Braxis is a professor, and has yet to be exposed as a traitor.
    • The GoBots are still unknown to the authorities on Earth, though Matt and the kids aren't actively on the run from the authorities.
  • Gadgets and powers:
    • Scooter can pick locks with his electronic brain.
    • Blaster suddenly gets to be a scientist.

Continuity and plotting errors[edit | edit source]

  • Naturally black holes don't really work like that.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • It's not entirely clear why Cy-Kill goes to all the effort of brainwashing Matt just to make him fly a shuttle into the black hole, though it does have Cy-Kill's trademark ridiculous overcomplication to it.
