Stolbovoy Island is part of the
Eastern Bloc Soviet Union, an island off the coast of Siberia. It is the location of a top secret research laboratory, covertly hidden in a gigantic ice castle that would make Queen Elsa of Arendelle weep.

Challenge of the GoBots cartoon[edit | edit source]
Anya Turgenova developed sorium for the Soviet government at her poorly-scaled laboratory on Stolbovoy Island. Despite the Iron Curtain, news of her discovery reached NASA scientist Doctor Braxis, who identified it as the ideal element to help his Renegade allies conquer of Earth. Battle for GoBotron Zod drew away the garrison protecting the lab, allowing Cy-Kill, Crasher and Cop-Tur to capture Anya and the sorium. Cy-Kill soon demonstrated the power of the element by using a fragment to destroy the laboratory. The Guardians Leader-1, Turbo and Scooter arrived too late to stop them, though they did catch Crasher, who had Anya inside her. However, Leader-1, Turbo, Matt Hunter and A.J. Foster were forced into a cave along with Crasher and Anya by Zod, with Cy-Kill throwing another sorium crystal in after them. The crystal exploded, destroying the mountain. Target Earth Thankfully Leader-1 was able to use his forcefield to contain the blast until Scooter and Nick Burns were able to free their friends with the Command Center, and the Guardians chased back towards North America in pursuit of the Renegades. Notes[edit | edit source]
- Like several locations and organisations in the "Battle for GoBotron" mini-series, and against the coyness of Anya being from the "Eastern Bloc", Stolbovoy Island is a real place, and did contain some Soviet scientific equipment. Though it was a weather station rather than a huge Fortress of Solitude-type lab.
