1985[edit | edit source]

After the appearance of the Devil Invaders and the completion of Battle Armor 5 the world of Machine Robo is renewed. The planet Romulus and Ionoid remain from the 1982 version of the story. The story is now larger in scale.

1. Prologue[edit | edit source]

UC 20750.

The planet Romulus in the constellation Cygnus is a peaceful planet with an environment similar to that of Earth. The Romulus have built a technologically advanced civilization through the development of Romtronian and Ionoid energy. As a result of this technology, they created the Machine Robo. The Machine Robo are a response to the various disasters and accidents that occurred in a rapidly growing society. It is a Machine Robo that moves by its own energy (ionoid energy) and can be made up to 600 times larger by the Romtron molecular composition converter. They come in a variety of forms to better suit their role. For example, they can take the form of space shuttles or UFOs to deal with accidents in space; in the form of jeeps, three-wheeled buggies, off-road vehicles, dump trucks, bulldozers, etc., for mobility in rough terrain. They are designed to be able to be changed to the robot at any time, depending on the situation.
The planet was supposed to be at peace, but a great danger was coming. This was the collapse of the sun in the Romulus star system. The Romulus system is the only one of its kind in the world. This predicted event was developing much more quickly than had been anticipated. The sun expanded so rapidly and became so hot that the whole system's time and space became disrupted. The sun was now contracting rapidly and was transforming itself into a "black hole". The Romulus people were almost completely destroyed by this cataclysm. The few people who remained were killed one by one by the oncoming cold wave. And when the last of the Romulus drew his last breath, the Machine Robo decided to leave the planet. And this was the main cause of the division of their destinies into "light" and "dark". The "light" in this case was those who had successfully escaped from the Romulus system. The "dark" are those who have been swallowed up by the space-time distortion caused by this catastrophe, who have been trapped in a completely different dimension.
The story begins with a group of successful escapees, the Machine Robo, who have made their way to the third planet in the solar system, Earth, and the Devil Invaders, who are trapped in the Casmo Zone.

2. Devil Invaders and Machine Robos[edit | edit source]

In another dimension, the common sense of the three-dimensional world is meaningless. Time, space and energy forms are all distorted and unstable. It constantly changes its shape and attacks the captives. In the worst of these environments, "Ionoid Energy" and "Romtron Energy" gradually change their forms, eating away at the Machine Robo that powered them. Those who could not adapt to the rapidly changing environment were naturally selected, and those who had acquired the ability to adapt were called "abnormal". Only those with the ability to adapt survived. For a dizzying number of years, the Machine Robo were thrown into a dark, interdimensional world, where they underwent a "negative evolution". It was not like the Machine Robo that had gone to Earth. This was the first time that Machine Robo had been released into another dimension.
These are the Devil Invaders. They are a rare breed of glutton, taking in whatever they can get their hands on and use it for their own energy. In contrast, the Machine Robo who went to Earth had to wander around the universe for several centuries before they ended their journey. In the same way that they had done for the Romulans, the Machine Robo who landed on Earth used their abilities to help the people to co-exist and prosper. The relationship was not one of master and servant, but one of mutual recognition of each other's abilities and the value of coexistence. But the peace was not to last. An accidental space-time distortion called the Stargate happened to open up right next to the Earth. The Devil Invaders, smelling the energy, swarmed through the tunnel connecting the dimensions like sharks to their prey. The Earth was immediately engulfed in a vortex of killing and destruction. This was the beginning of the fatal battle between the Machine Robots and the Devil Invaders.

3. Building the Techno Planet[edit | edit source]

Then there was the developments of the Machine Robo - Jet Garry, Battle Armor 5, Battle Base, Combat Buggies and other weapons for the Devil Invaders. As the fighting intensified, Machine Robo moved ahead with even bigger projects at a rapid pace. This was the construction of the Techno-planet. Earth, their second home, cannot be turned into a battle-scarred deathtrap. In order to do this, the Devil Invaders must be distracted from the Earth and the battlefield must be shifted. Therefore a few light years away from the Earth, an artificial star, the Techno Planet, has been built. This is where they set up a large station for the generation of ionoid energy and Romtron energy, and the Machine Robo also moved to the planet to prepare for new battles. In addition, the construction of the planet required the cooperation of many people from Earth. For humans, the planet was the front line of their expansion into outer space.

4. Warp, Delta, and Battle[edit | edit source]

In the end, however, this great project was little more than a battleground. The Devil Invaders were sent into the third dimension one after the other through the Star Gate, which opened at will. The Earth is also full of energy, including atomic energy. For them, it was just an expansion of the "feeding field". Some battles were fought in space, others in the Stargate, and still others were fought through the Stargate and into other dimensions. The intensity of the battles increased as they moved through the Stargate. When the Devil Invaders began to reach out to the life-energy of the Earth, the Warp Delta Section System was completed. This is the instantaneous movement device developed by Machine Robo. It is a system that opens a passage for warp to any point in space. Stargates appear out of nowhere in space, but the Devil Invaders apparently have some kind of radar that allows them to anticipate these points in advance. The Machine Robo have been on the back foot until now. With the development of the warp delta section system, they've been able to instantly reach the location where the Stargate appears, to allow the Machine Robo to move instantly to the location where the Devil Invaders appear. Do not let the Earth fall into the hands of the enemy! The Machine Robo must be further strengthened to face the Devil Invaders. And they must not be defeated. This is a battle that you must not lose.

Characterisation[edit | edit source]

Machine Robo[edit | edit source]

  • A super robot created by the technology of the planet Romulus. Its characteristics are that it is a machine-to-robot, moves on ionoid energy, and can change its size up to 600 times its original size using the Romtron molecular composition converter. It also has several powerful weapons that it uses to harness its own energy. In order to coexist with humanity on Earth, a number of machines have been designed to resemble those on Earth, and others have been designed to operate in outer space.

Devil Invaders[edit | edit source]

  • Originally a Machine Robo, the Devil Invader was created during the collapse of the Romulus star system. When the Romulus star system collapsed, it was swallowed by a black hole into the Casmo Zone, an interdimensional world. These intelligent robots have become vicious and destructive. They can adapt to changes in the environment in a short time and absorb energy regardless of their form. They are called "abnormal adaptation robots" and have the ability to adapt to any kind of energy. In other words, they can adapt their bodies to changes in their environment. It also has a "self-healing function" which allows it to quickly recover from minor damage. They are rare and gluttonous, devouring the energy of one star before moving on to another... And so on. Not a single plant or tree grows where they have gone.

Battle Base[edit | edit source]

  • A large mobile base for Machine Robo on land, built by Machine Robo and Earthlings. It can be used to supply energy and recover injured Machine Robo. This allows for flexible movement in case of emergency. Jet Garrys are required for long distances and the Battle Base itself can change direction or move slowly over short distances.

Jet Garry[edit | edit source]

  • A small land-based mobile base for Machine Robo. No energy supply system. It also rescues injured Machine Robo.

Battle Armour 5 (Jet Type)[edit | edit source]

  • Consists of four power suits and a Battle Commander Jet. Battle Armor 5 (Jet Type) is a super-system robot developed for use against Devil Invaders (at about the same time as Battle Base). Each Power Suit can be used on its own to power up a Machine Robo (faster movement, more power in weapons), and strengthens their defences.

Battle Armor 5 (Tank Type *later Land Commander 5)[edit | edit source]

  • A system similar to the Jet Type. It was developed especially for land combat.

Combined Machine Robo[edit | edit source]

  • This Machine Robo was developed during the construction of Techno Planet. The cabin part is the upper body of the robot, and the tank on the trailer is the lower body of the robot. The robot always acts in pairs, so it can deal with any sudden incidents. The design of the robot is very efficient.

Power-up Machine Robo (see page 48)[edit | edit source]

  • It was developed around the same time as the Combined Machine Robo, and was a mobile machine robot for use against Devil Invaders. Because the weapon is mounted externally it is very powerful. The weapon is also equipped with an anti-energy absorber, which makes it effective against Devil Invaders.

Anti-Energy Absorber[edit | edit source]

  • A disintegrating device. The energy emitted by this device cannot be absorbed by the Devil Invader.

Machine Robo Mothership (see page 50)[edit | edit source]

  • A large base used by Battle Bases for combat and defence on Earth. The Mothership was developed for defence/combat in outer space, using the Technoplanet as a base (port). The Mothership is an all-purpose fortress that can transform into a robot during battle and destroy the enemy. It is also equipped with an anti-energy absorber.

Key settings[edit | edit source]

Ionoid energy[edit | edit source]

  • In a fusion reactor, ionoid nuclei collide with each other and fuse into a heavier nucleus through a nuclear reaction. A huge amount of energy is released, which is then amplified in a plasma amplification reactor to give it more power. This is called ionoid energy.

Ionoid ore[edit | edit source]

  • Ionoid energy, the power source of the Machine Robo, is based on a material called "ionoid". This mineral is harder than a diamond (hardness 18). This mineral is not found in nature, but is scientifically synthesised at Machine Robo sites scattered around the world. The energy produced when 1g of ionoid ore is thrown into a Romtron fusion reactor is 1 ionoid ENG/g. This is equivalent to the amount of heat that could boil all the seawater in the Pacific Ocean.

Romtron molecular composition converter[edit | edit source]

  • A device that changes the size of the molecules themselves, the units that make up matter, so that all Machine Robo can change their size freely over a range of up to 600 times.

Romtron scanner[edit | edit source]

  • This is another device that is common to all Machine Robo. It is a very powerful radar.

Star Gate[edit | edit source]

  • It is a distortion of time and space, connecting the three-dimensional worldto the interdimensional world (Casmo Zone). They appear irregularly in time and space. For this reason, the Devil Invaders have a device called the STAR GATE FORECAST SYSTEM, or the Forecast System for short. Later on the Machine Robo also succeeds in developing the system in cooperation with the earthlings.

Warp Delta Section[edit | edit source]

  • This is a warp point developed by Machine Robo. It is a system of four energy-generating stations set in a triangular pyramid in space to open a passage for warp. It can be aimed at any point in space, and the Machine Robo will be able to travel between Earth and Techno-Planet, and between Star Gate and Techno-Planet in a short space of time. However, in order to use this system, the robot must have a device that is tuned to the energy generating station.

Casmo Zone[edit | edit source]

  • An interdimensional world. No one knows what it is. Some geophysicists believe that if our world is real, then the Casmo Zone is an imaginary world. In the interior, there are Devil Invaders and other lifeforms an ecology unthinkable in the 3D world.

Devil Planet[edit | edit source]

  • Located inside the Casmo Zone.

Devil Invaders[edit | edit source]

  • Planet(s) of different races. Casmodon, Falgos, Zarios, Gildis, Baldas and others. They were created by some of the most intelligent beings in the world.

Technoplanet[edit | edit source]

  • A man-made planet that serves as a base for Machine Robo. It is also a frontline base for space defence/exploration for the people of Earth.
