Scale Robo DX[edit | edit source]

  • Saladin Mk. II (1983)
  • ID number: MR-DX06
  • Accessories: rocket launcher, gun, 2 ammo case lids, 6 rockets, 3 antennae
The sixth Machine Robo DX figure, and the first since the name was changed to ScaleRobo DX, Saladin Mk. II converts from a Saladin Mk II armoured car to robot. The armoured car mode features rubber tyres, a moving turret and gun, opening crew hatches and removable ammunition case lids. The larger gun for the robot mode is spring-loaded and can fire the 'rockets'. While featuring a well-proportioned robot mode with shoulder articulation the figure is very fragile, with much of the body made from very thin metal. Two different colour schemes were released: - one with tan and green camo; the other with green and black "night" camo.
  • The tan and green version was released with some modification as the Super GoBots figure Defendor as part of GoBots. The "night" version was not released outside of Japan, and no version of the toy was released in Europe at all.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The individual Scale Robo figures lacked the "Robo" suffix of other Machine Robo figures and did not feature in any of the line's fiction. This combined with their more adult-orientated packaging suggests they were intended simply as Machine Robo puzzle toys or models as opposed to part of the early Romulos/Devil Invader mythos.
