J. Larry Carroll is an American writer of cartoons, films and television. Challenge of the GoBots was a pit-stop on his meandering career, which involved editing The Hills Have Eyes, directing Ghost Warrior (a feature film about a samurai being reawakened in 1980s Los Angeles), and writing the script for slasher film Tourist Trap before switching to cartoons - including Thundercats and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He then did a stint as story editor on Star Trek: The Next Generation before moving over to production for Diagnosis Murder.
