An emergency underwater means Submarine Robo must be activated - but is Shō up to being a Robo Master?

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Onboard submersible Cube 1 Tōru Suidōbashi, Brad Bitou and Marie Bitou test the new Submarine Team underwater, while the cadets undergo water training at Rescue Headquarters. Shō is performing impressively individually, though instructor Miyajima is unimpressed by his inability to work well with the rest of Yellow Gears. Later he reveals to the other cadets that his swimming skills came from a strict teacher in the form of his sister, who also insisted he kept smiling - believing a smile can save the world. However, his sister was drowned at sea, one of his main motivations for joining Machine Robo Rescue. At sea, Professor Suidōbashi declares Submarine Robo ready for service with MRR - but a sudden current cuts one of Cube 1's cables from the support ship, making it impossible to raise the submersible. MRR are notified but unfortunately the absence of Chief Bitou and his daughter means the response has to be handled by Miyajima. Thankfully Sasaki has a cooler head and is able to dissuade his fellow instructor from setting off personally to rescue Marie, and instead Yellow Gears are sent - though Gyro Robo has to remind Drill Robo he can't swim. Below the sea, the submersible has around an hour and a half's oxygen remaining. Unworried, Chief Bitou believes they might as well take the opportunity to observe deep sea fishes and stay calm. Yellow Gears reach the ship, where Chief Bitou suggests using Cube 2 to make contact with Submarine Robo, and Shō is entrusted with the activation disk. The Jet Team transport the second submersible to the ship, and Shō prepares to pilot it down to the trapped group - though Marie is concerned the trauma of his sister's death might affect his confidence faced with a real emergency.

Shō is able to attach a fresh oxygen cylinder to Cube 1 and prepares to activate Submarine Robo - unaware that Gura Gorro is watching. The Professor and Marie talk Shō through linking his K-BOY to the new Machine Robo but the final cable connecting Cube 1 to the ship above is severed too, sending it plunging into the depths. Marie is able to keep Shō calm, while Chief Bitou affirms that Shō has grown since the loss of his sister and will be able to rescue them. As the process to activate Submarine Robo continues, Shō notices Gura Gorro approaching. The new Machine Robo comes online in time to ram it out of the way, and Shō orders Submarine Robo into Hyper Mode, and he makes short work of the Gura Gorro. Further down Cube 1's hull begins to buckle from the pressure but Hyper Submarine Robo arrives in time to return them to the surface safely. Marie compliments an emotional Shō on a fine rescue, and tells him his sister would have been proud. Meanwhile Hyper Submarine Robo shows off his surfing abilities to the others - much to the embarrassment of Chief Bitou.
